Hi.. thank you for your thoughts. I have no way of knowing if this is the same. My Michael is found on the census in Ontario .. the 1891 census, it shows in Lanark North district 83 Fitzroy.. married to Harriet.. they were my great great grandparents. My french is lousy, so any and all help would be appreciated. I do have a possible birth certificate for him, but I have no one to translate it for me. Can you tell me more about the one in your family? I can tell that Michael and Harriet emigrated to the US around 1898-9 and had at least 1 daughter born in Canada . Lena Leauretta in about 1893.. They emigrated to Washington state, however I cannot find a border crossing record, a birth record for Lena, so I am stuck on that entire side of my family at the census record.. If I can be of any help to you please let me know.. Again.. thank you!

My name is Andrew Porter, father of Ralph Porter Sr. We had no idea for the longest time too my father had a different father for many many years.

My grandmother told us just before she had pass away that my father had a RCMP father, by the name of Albert Chartand. She told my mom Mary Porter that he looked just my Albert but was not as tall. I can go on and on about this but i think it would be easier on the phone to explain how they met.

She also told us he died Feb 13, 1942 at Pasley Bay while on duty. My father was born March 9th, 1942 few weeks after Albert died of a heart attack. Maybe that explain why you guys had no idea of my father.

My name is Helene, I am the daughter of the late Élie Chartrand, brother of Constable Albert Chartrand who died on the St Roch in Pasley Bay on February 13 th 1942.
My grandparents were Jules and Célima Chartrand of Ottawa. As of today, we were not aware that uncle Albert had a child.

I am sure that this makes us not-too-distant cousins. Moise and Emelie are my great-grandparents. I have found 8 children for them: Joseph Moïse Honoré (born 1877); Alexina (born 1879); Joseph Palma (1881); Marie Theontina/Theona Ema (my grandmother, born 1883); Sara (1885); Leandre (1886); Jean Patrice (1888); Louise (1890). Who am I missing?
Also, do you have any more information for Emelie? I have only an approximate year of birth (1855) and her marriage date to Moise. I have her as the daughter of Philibert Dubien and Marguerite Renaud. Do you ahve any additional information, such as when she died?

I am the daughter of Henry Larsen, the captain of the St Roch on which Frenchy Chartrand dailed. I remember him from when I was a young child. I also remember his sister Blandine when we first moved to ottawa. I am in contact with one of his nieces.
A man by the name of George Porter travelled with the St Roch crew members and acted as an interpreter but I understand this was around Walker Bay. If you give me a bit more information I can looked through my fathers writings.
Frenchy was well liked, he loved the Arctic, its people, and didn't want to leave it.

My family line originates from Paul Chartrand, born in the year 1800 and married Louise Mazinakkanikak, born 1803. Their daughter Isabelle Chartrand born 1826/St. Laurent, Man. married Pierre Richard born 1817/Red River Settlement,N.W.T. Canada. I have more info. on family lineage up to date.

I am looking for my ancestors. My mother was Roseline Chartrand. (sometimes known as Rose Marie Chartrand). Her mother was Marie Goulet who died when my mom was 2, around 1920. My mother's father was John Chartrand, known also as Jean Baptiste Chartrand. My mom, Roseline was separated from her family in the St. Anne's orphanage in Winnipeg. She is listed as " lost". I am looking to find the family line that goes past Jean Chartrand and Marie Goulet. They had 4 Children, Louise, Herve, Jean and my mom, the baby, Rose. Her auntie Louise Tait was supposed to have raised her. I know I had a great grandmother named Louise Mazinak Kamikak. I would welcome any info or help in this matter, thank you to you all,

His parenst where Mr. Jules Chartrand and mother was Celima Chartrand (Rainville) Died April 27th, 1947.

Albert had a Sister Blandine, Brothers Elie and Leo Paul (Lawrence)

Albert Died of a fatal Heart Attack on board the Ship St. Roch Feb 13th, 1942 while serving the RCMP

Celima was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Cleophas Rainville and in 1901 she married Jules at St. Isidore de Prescott.

I have lucy father as Peter P Charkaw/Chartrand b. jan 14 1814 Quebec Can d. November 28 1865 Canada Married July 18 1836 Ontario to Lucy Selouie/Salois b. july 6 1816 d. October 21 1899 USA. I only have three kids but there could be more Louisa, Amelia and LUCY.

Dear Mr. Kelly,

I too am searching for my lineage in the Chartrand line of my family. Particularly that of Antoine Isreal Chartrand and his wife Lucie Reaper. I know four of their children were: Josephine "josie" Shatraw (Chartrand) Duval, Lucie Shatraw (Chartrand), Hermine "Minnie" Shatraw (Chartrand) and Edward Emmanuel Shatraw (Chartrand). Edward's son, Milton, wrote a family memoir entitled: "Thrashin-Time: Memories of a Montana Boyhood."

If any of these names might be known to you I will appreciate any information you may share. I know Antoine Chartrand enlisted int he Union Army after he came to the United States from Canada. He spoke little English and the enlistment officer noted the spelling of his surname as Shatraw.
