I have my family (CHARTRES) back to 1700.
They came from London/Middlesex areas.
My line arrived in Adelaide South Australia in 1856.
Thomas Chartres & Mary Smith arrived with their children, Mary Ruth, Charlotte Eliza and Thomas Walter (my G-Grandfather)
The spelling on variuos records is ChartRES and ChartERS, often for the same person.
I would be interested to contact any one with any interest in this line.

Anna Chartres of Louisville, KY

I am trying to find out any information regarding my g-g grandmother, Anna Chartres. She married A. W. Merwin, (who I believe may have been from Connecticut), either in Connecticut, Ohio or Kentucky. I do not have a date of birth on her, but date of death was about 1864 in Mississippi. A. W. Merwin, her husband, died in 1852 in Louisville, KY, where he had been a carriage dealer.

My g-grandfather, Thorburn Chartres Merwin was born in Louisville, KY, 12-25-1845.

Anna Chartres married A. W. Merwin of Louisville, KY. A. W. was a carriage dealer. Anna died in Mississippi in 1864. Together, they had a son, Thorburn (T.C.) Merwin, who was my G Grandfather. Any information beyond A.W. Merwin and Anna Chartres would be appreciated!
