Have you found any information on L.C? I have received a copy of the family bible page listing his marriage and child. Married Adelia Gates of Sayer, PA on July 28th 1895 (married at Sayer). Children: Paul Gates Chatham b. 25 Aug 1897; William Dunn Chatham b. 1/1/1900. Son of Paul G. Chatham; Robert Louis Chatham born in Colorado. L.C. and his sons died in San Diego, CA.

Looking for beyond Harle, my grandomther did a lot of geneology on the maternal side, but very little of the Chatham side.

Harle Wayne Chatham, married more than once but steps into my line as my grandfather, married to Carole Dell McAninch (She was a Prather / e.g. Prater).

Father is Charles Wayne Chatham, Mother is Lois Elizabeth Goding.

Don't have much further back than grandfather at this point. Will check back.

Hi Jane, No new leads; I'll let you know in more detail the leads I had going towards William Penn-Lord Chatham when I can locate the papers. How far back do you have? The farthest back that most of us "chatomites" have is a Lord? John? Chatham. I have investigated the possibility that Lord Chatham was William Penn of England as he was earl of Chatham and his descendents would have the surname of Chathan, but that didn't pan out.

A son of Lord Chatham, and my ancester was born in Ireland; and his children. Do you have anything back from Charles?

Laurel friends of Miss Estelle Chatham and Mr. Eddie E. Hooks will be greatly interested in their marriage, which occurred Monday afternoon at four o'clock in Ellisville with the Methodist minister, the Rev. Carley, uniting them in the holy bonds of wedlock. The news of their marriage will come as quite a surprise to everyone, their friends not knowing that this interesting romance was to culminate at so early a date.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Chatham and a most attractive member of the Laurel High School graduating class of the present year. The groom is a well-known employee of the Old Wallace Drug company and is a great favorite.

For the present, these happy young people will make their home with the groom's sister, Mrs. J. N. Smith, possibly going to the coast for a brief wedding trip before taking up their abode.

Hi all. I am trying to track my Chatham connections. My Gradparents, lived and in Western Canada and what I know of my Great Grandparents is that they came from somewhere in US and homesteaded in northern Alberta. My granfather was Ernest (Frederick we think) Chatham. My Dad was Herbert Ernest (named after an Uncle Herbert who was a Doctor)

I went over your info and my Ira chatham was born 1856/58. His mother was Priscilla Jane Welsh b. 1834. Father John Chatham b. 1821. Ira's bro/sis were: Anna b. 1855; Lincoln b. 1860; Roseanna b. 1862; Kathleen b. 1866; John b. 1869 and Cordelia b. 1872. My g/fa died in Montana 1919. There is another Ira C Chatham married to a Weinsteen (sp)? from Lock Haven. I would like to look at your website, because there probably is some connection. Thanks, Karen

Dear Karen, I have been meaning to write you for a couple years now. I am also a member of CCGS and have seen that you were also searching Chathams.
One reason you could be have trouble connecting is that Ira's father John Watson Chatham b 1841(My gr grfa) was married to Patricia Jane Welsh 1st and had about 6 children. They were divorced (I assume-no papers). Ira was one of those children. You might find them in Porter TWSP, Clinton cty. I can give you more. For instance, John's fa is Robert Chatham b 1815 PA, m to Elizabeth "Betsy" Johnston b abt 1818 in PA.

(Ira > John W. > Robert > James > William b abt 1743 Prescott (parish) Lancshire, England (died in Chatham's Run in 1827) > Lord John Chatham b abt 1718 in England. In a couple days I will invite you to My Family Site to view more. There are a whole passel of Chathams in that area and of course most of the male names are John, James and William.

I can help you with Myron. He was married twice that I know of. Married second to Lena Vivela Mack (divorced Michigan), had daughter Mildred Helen Chatham. I will wait to see if you get this before I continue.

L.C. Chatham was the brother of my grandfather John Hall III. I don't know of much information about L.C. He was the eldest of 11 siblings; with only John Hall b. 1892 being a surviving son.

Annie was married to Leroy Sellers. Leroy was born 3-4-1890. They had 1 daughter, Tessie Mary Sellers. They are buried in Bethel Cemetery in Holcomb, MS. Tessie married Louie Bell and they had 3 children, Charles, James, and Leroy.
I have a good bit of info on the Chatham side.

Following is circumstantial evidence to support Martin Cheatham/Chatham of Wilkes Co. N.C. being the son of Robert Cheatham of Albemarle Co. Va.:

1. Martin Chatham named a son CHARLES MOORE Chatham. Robert Cheatham's wife Milly Moore had a brother CHARLES MOORE.

2. MARTIN Chatham's first name is the same as the surname of Milly Moore's mother Judith MARTIN. This surname is common in Albemarle Co. Va. & Amherst Co. Va.

3. The History of N.C. Vols. III & IV (1928) states that Martin Chatham was born 1803 in either Augusta Co. Va. or Western Va. Robert Cheatham was listed as head of household in the 1810 Albemarle Co. Va. census, with one male under 10 years old in the household. Albemarle Co. is adjacent to Augusta Co. and both are in western Va.

4. Robert Cheatham had children by his second wife who were named William Alexander, George, Caroline & Martha. Martin Chatham had children named William, Alexander, George, Caroline & Martha Chatham.

5. Martin Chatham also named one of his sons Robert Chatham as well as two daughters Sarah & Martha. It's believed that Robert Cheatham had two daughters by Milly Moore, named Patsy (Martha) & Sarah.

6. Martin Chatham's surname on his marriage record was recorded as CHEATHAM. Robert Cheatham also married his second wife Elizabeth Turnbill in Wilkes Co. N.C.

7. Robert Cheatham's presumed sister Alice Cheatham Suddith named a son MARTIN Suddith (also born c.1800-10, like Martin Chatham).

8. Martin Chatham's presumed sister Sarah Cheatham Curry named a son MARTIN Curry.

9. Robert Cheatham's daughter by his 2nd. wife, Ann Elizabeth Cheatham Carroll, named her first son MARTIN Henry Carroll.

Looking for any information or descendents for Edward Chatham, who was married to Bonita DePrend (b: 25JUN1904 OH d: 27NOV1975 MI).

Death cert for Bonita gives address as of 1975, as 2332 Park Apt 610. Edward, possibly passed away in 1976.

Lloyd, yes, this is the connection that I was looking for. In her obit and will, Nell Burtrez Jones, mentions cousins, whom are all descended from Helen CHATHAM. Nell's Mother was Helen's sister, Esther Demaris Smith. I'd appreciate any additional info that you have on this family.

I have not yet been able to find a marriage record for Esther Smith and Asa Iley Jones.

I learned about this when I got my library card for Chatham County, but it looks like it might be available to anyone that has a library card at participating libraries in Georgia. By logging on to GALILEO, users can access a database called Heritage Quest which has online images of many (not all, though) US census records. I'm talking about the original records, not abstracts. And it's FREE!

I am seeeking information on the Chatham line on behalf of a third party who is/was related by marriage. I am trying to obtain contact information or any other information anyone may have regarding John Chatham Senior particulary regarding his late wife Mary who was from either Virginia or South Carolina, born about 1930 and died around 1970. John Senior would have possibly been living in or around St. Louis Missouri about 1970, and had a child with this Mary, who I believe was named John Junior (maybe born between 1965-1970). To somewhat confuse matters more, he subsequently remarried to a woman who's name was also Mary. Any information, leads, or hints anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Jimmie, Clement Reese and Jessie Clement are in my line. probably Wm Reese was involved with these two names Clement Reese was born 1847, to James Harvey born 1818.

Not aware of kinship to a Jethro Chatham, unless he was kin to father or grandfather of Benjamin F. Chatham. Benjamin's father was William
"Penn" Darias Chatham. Grandfather was Darias Chatham, who came to Mississippi from the state of Georgia.
