The Chaussés in the midwest are mostly from Québec. There is one known Chaussé from Switzerland that settled in New York. Especially with the middle name Désirée, that tells me that it's a descendant of Désirée Chaussé born in Sainte-Élisabeth in Québec which moved in the midwest along with his brother.
