Hi
is anyone researching the EDWARDs of Chesterfield county in the 1700s, early 1800s?
I believe a Peter EDWARDS died in 1824 in here and I wanted to learn more about him.

I've got a Peter EDWARDS, Rev War veteran who lived in Frederick county, VA - and states he is from Culpeper county, VA - but I don't really see any land for him - I know his wife's family is from Front Royal area, so didn't know if he had 2 houses or ??

Unfortunately none of Stephen and Laura Chesterfield's eight children emmigrated to Australia - just Canada and the United States. Do you know where in Cornwall your John Chesterfield originates? I could then possibly direct you to another particular branch that originates in Cornwall. My branch originates in Gorran and St Ewe specifically.

hi there,further to my last post i know know that my great grandfather was a thomas chesterfield from cornwall who emigrated to autstralia by sailboat in the 1880s.my greatgrandparents on my dads mothers side also came from there and they were a bill and edith mary ann potter.

Hi there,

I don't suppose you know the name of your great grandfather on the Chesterfield side? If you do, then you could perhaps go back to the 1881 UK Census (available online for free - just google it to access info) and see if you can find a listing for him. This listing will hopefully tell you what part of Cornwall he was from and who is parents/siblings were and you can work back(and forward)from there. If you don't have his name, you should be able to access it from your grandfather's birth certificate. There are a number of Chesterfield branches originating from Cornwall and you just need to figure out how you fit in to them. Unfortunately none of my direct Chesterfield ancestors emmigrated to Australia but instead went to Canada and the USA. There is also lots of information online regarding UK passenger lists sailing to Australia that you could search once if and when you have your great grandfather's name.

Let me know and I'm happy to give you more guidance from there as best I can.

Hi there,

Unfortunately I don't think your Stephen is directly related to my Stephen Chesterfield. My Stephen was born in Gorran Cornwall and his birthdate is April 19, 1861. The name Stephen appears to be an important Chesterfield family name - it is actually found in all 6 generations of my direct descendents I have researched. Most of the particular Chesterfields I have researched have been from the Gorran, Cornwall area and my general understanding is that most Chesterfields originated from Cornwall. My gg grandfather James Chesterfield had a brother Stephen and his christening and/or birth date was Dec. 25, 1827. I have not yet researched most of the siblings of my direct descendents. There could be a connection somewhere through the various siblings but I have not come across it yet. Apologies I can't be of more help to you at this time.

I am not sure if your Stephen Chesterfield is within my family. I am researching a Chesterfield family in St Austell.
My gg grandparents were Philip Chesterfield and Sarah Clemens. They did have a Stephen Chesterfield born 1874 at St Austell. Is this your Stephen?

I note KaySmith47 has them listed as being in her tree but as I am not a member I have no way of contacting her.

Do my Chesterfields fit in your research?

Although there must be many relations in England. I have not been able to contact anyone so far.

I found him living in Fall River City, MA in 1900. He became a pharmacist, married Mona Francis Bull. (He was a pharmacist) They were living in MA,NJ,NY in the early 1900's. Eventually settling in Elmira, NY. I can not go any farther back than Edward. If you can add information I would appreciate it!

He has a sister named Sabrina. They may or may not have been adopted, but we know they were in foster care. Just wondering if in your search, you may have found any info on my husband's birthparents since he shares the same name as your adopted son.

Name of birthmother on adoption documents -Joshanna Lynn Hicks. Birthmother parents listed as Clark and Thelma Hicks (Joshanna likely a minor). Male son born July 16,1970 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, Kentucky. Private adoption handled through Covington KY attorney.
Adopted by Michael and Mildred Phillips -named Michael Phillips Jr. Adoptive parents now both deceased.

My mother's stepfather was Cristie Chesterfield from Vigo County. His grandfather John emmigrated from Cornwall England in 1848 to WI. There were 10 children some of whom settled in Brazil IN. Would be

Where was these people in the 1850 census and where were they at when the 1870 census was taken?

This household is listed on the same page and six houses away from the household of Oliver Rasco ( later records list name as Roscoe).

There is a household in the 1850 census headed by a Jane Minders as follows:

Mary Minders, w. f. age 13 born in S.C.
Rebecca Minders, w. f. age 7 born in S.C.
Margaret Minders, w.f. age 5 born in S.C.
Joseph Minders, w. m. age 3 born in S.C.
Effa Minders, w. f. age 1 born in S.C.

This household is in close proximity of the household of Oliver Rasco in 1850.

Are the Minders in the 1850 census and the Minders in the household of Hugh Coker in the 1860 census the same people or related to each other?

Photos of Grave Stones

I was wondering if someone would be interested in taking photos for me of my grandmother's grave stone.

They are buried in the Newbold Cemetery church yard where it has a crooked spire. I think it may be St. Mary's or use to be Church of OUr Lady and All Saints cemetery.

There names were Hannah and Alfred Booth. Hannah died Februrary 14, 1923. Not sure when Alfred died. He may be buried with her.

Sarah A Chesterfield sailed from Liverpool, England, on the ship "Joseph Badger" with 227 Mormon emigrants, mostly from Wales. The ship arrived in New Orleans 23 November 1850. Trying to find out what happened to Sarah; grateful for any information regarding this person.

I found this site very interesting. Very good photos. My personal interest is in the Harold family as this is my maiden name. My great grandfather seems to be Harry Harold (Hurrell) whose parents were Robert and Harriet. Their first son moved to Chesterfield and probably went on to Doncaster later. My grandfather was Arthur Harry (Henry), he died during the First World War. For some reason he joined the Royal Irish Rifles.

I am looking for descendentsd of Daniel Nunn , born Burgate, Suffolk and Sarah ann Warne who married in Holy Trinity, Chesterfield in 1884. Between them they had, ( Sarahs first liason - possibly to a James Beech ) - Harriet ( Beech? ), Florence ( Beech ? ) then there was a Sanuel and Richard Nunn ( possibly from Daniels first marriage ? ), then Daniel and Sarah had John, Daniel, George, Mary Ann, Emma, Florence, May, Willie, Arthur, Mary Ellen - by then it was the 1901 Census - and maybe they had worn themselves out bu then !! - but who knows ? - hope you do as I would love to trace all this family foirward. Interestingly, Danielsd brother David, his wife Fanny / francis Scoot and family lived next door to them at one stage.

Thanks for your email. Unfortunately your family does not appear to link with mine. None of the Longden's on my website lived in the Macclesfield area - in fact they always lived in the Derbyshire area. Two of my Longden relatives came to USA in 1881 and went to live in Kansas.

My father,HAROLD was b in Moss Side,Manchester.1914.

(Married Sarah Ann Simcock of Hulme abt 1880
2X Gt grandfather Cornelius Longden lived Paradise St Macclesfield in1853 m.Harriet Berry in Prestbury 1839
His father was William Longden of Macclesfield I believe he married Betty Harrop.(LDS site) I have birth certificates for my dad and both Josephs . Marriage certificate for Cornelius and Harriet. Four Families in Chesterfield, England

I have been researching four Chesterfield Families these past few years. The families are The Longdens (1760 to present), The Harrolds (1760 to present), the Barkers (1818 to present - but the Pidds back to 1660) and the Tricketts (1753 to present). The Longdens from Calow go back as far as records are kept. The Harrolds originally came from Thrandeston in Suffolk to Chesterfield. The Barkers came from Sutton St James in Lincolnshire to Chesterfield. The Tricketts came from South Yorkshire.
