I was just thinking the other night as to the actual date of my Grandfather's death (1961 0r 1961) When I happen to come across a web site and the first William K. Swan I came across in Huntingdon Pennsylania had a birth date of 02/03/1790 and his father was William Swan and mother was ELEANOR CHESTNUT. Because of items from the family and stories I've always been told and believed that a Grandmother of several generations removed by the name of ELEANOR CHESTNUT was my grandmother.

The fact of the Shade Gap area being involved made it more important because of my own fathers early years were spent in Shade Gap, PA. in a family grocery store. If by chance the same ELEANOR CHESTNUT is related to my Grandfather, WILLIAM K. SWAN and father WILLIAM RHINE SWAN, it would be a pleasure to exchange information.

William K. Swan, born Harrisburg, PA

Please see my post about him on Kershaw Message Board. A research of Kershaw records that I did shows that he did not die until 1815-1818, probably it was April 1, 1818. He wrote his Will on June 27, 1815 so thee is no way he died before 1815. His Executors filed his Will with the court on April 20, 1818, so I'm guessing the April 1, 1813 date is a misread of a "3" for an "8".

I regret I do not know anything about his parents.

The Seed farm(don't know which SEED brother lived in that farm I think it was James.I don't have my old plat book, cause we had a house fire and I lost all of my genealogy. The farm was located one section south of our house.(We don't live there any more as the house burnt down) It was in section 22 of the 2000 plat book, on 140th St. of St Croix Falls township. So that makes it 1 mile north of highway 8. It says Elroy and Arlys Petzel 140 acres on the 2000 plat book. They no longer own that section of land some one else owns it. the old barn and one old shed is still standing. There is a old house there too but don't know if that was the original house. I think so.someone is living there but is kind of run down. I hope this helps you. Or this is the info you wanted.

Darlene Creuzer

Elizabeth Chestnut - Enterprise Alabama

I've been on a long dead ending search for my father, Clarence R. Wilkeron's, family.
It seems that my Grandfather Homer/Oklahoma-(Oklahoma is the given name on his WW1 draft card taken in Columbus, GA.)-was born in Enterprise, AL. May 7, 1900. In the 1900 US Census he is named, Son, of Tom and Elizabeth Wilkerson. The census says Toni mispelled. My G Grandfather is Thomas and my G Grandmother is Elizabeth Chestnut.
Other siblings, included Everett, Ila Belle, Willie, Sallie, Frankey, Foy, Clarkie, Connie, & my Grandfather, Son.
My GFather's sister Foy married a Cecil Crook.
Their children are: Blanche, Ralph, Rudolph. Cecil Crook is the son of William H. Crook. I know that they lived on what I remember was a farm, maybe peanuts, but I was very young. I do remember the unforunate death of Blanche maybe early 1950's. She had two sons, but I don't remember her married name.
If I can get some information from this post it could lead me to someone living with information about this line of the Wilkerson's and the Crook's who I knew as a child.

Thanks, Carol Wilkerson Russo

Johnson migrated to Alachua County, Florida before or soon after the end of the Civil War. Only, if your Lawrence lived in Florida could there be a possible connection. Jerry

CHESTNUT Family of Ripley County, MO
As I was searching for my family, I ran across this forum. I started a Ripley County MO and Allied Families website at MyFamily.com. And some of the surnames that I have found include CHESTNUT family.

I was also able to finally find the Chestnut Cemetery there in Ripley County, MO & get all the tombstones that I could find, photographed. The cemetery is in terrible condition and I know for a fact that there are many stones that are covered with brush and debris that I am afraid will never be able to be found.

We are growing and have several folks researching families from Ripley County, MO
If you would like to become a member, please contact me privately at: becdavis@centurytel.net I will gladly send you an invitation and once you log in you then become a member.

It is a free site to members and you can post anything and everything you want regarding genealogy.

Thank you for taking time to read this post.

Becky Pyland Davis Marshfield, MO
