There is a Chew coat of arms that was granted in 1703 to someone who was likely a distant cousin of that John Chew (and of ours). One source I googled lists its heraldic description as
ARMS: Azure, a catharine wheel or, between two griffins' heads erased Argent. CREST: A griffin sejant Argent, goutty de sang, beaked, legged and winged Sable, reposing his dexter foot on a catharine wheel Gules.
That is, more or less, a blue field with griffins and catharine wheels.
