Douglas A. Chiaramonte, 64 of Las Vegas, Nev. passed away on January 5th, 2009 at home with his wife by his side after a long illness. He was born in Erie, Pa. to the late S. Vincent and Clara A. Chiaramonte. Doug attended Cathedral Prep and Gannon University, was a Sergeant in the Air Force and owned a business managing Health Care and Dental practices in the tri-state area for 30 years. He was the charter President of the Erie chapter of Big Brothers of Erie, was an avid golfer, loved playing handball and was a member of Lake View Country Club and the downtown YMCA for many years. He coached E.Y.S.A. soccer and was a big supporter of Erie Youth Hockey. Doug was a big sports fan in general following the N.Y. Yankees, Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. It should be noted that Doug hit not one, but two hole in ones during his lifetime. He was a great salesman, always knew how to take care of everyone around him and was well known and liked for his sense of humor and personality. He loved to travel and nothing was more important to him than his family. Doug was married to Mary Welling on March 13th 1971, had one son, Vince Chiaramonte, and in the past two years, became a proud grandpa (Pop-Pop) to Luca and Rocco Chiaramonte. He spent most of his life in Erie, Pa. and truly enjoyed it, however since he was unable to figure out a way to keep it from snowing he and Mary moved to Las Vegas seven years ago. Doug is survived by his wife Mary of Las Vegas, Nev.; his son Vince Chiaramonte and his wife, Jasmine; grandsons Luca and Rocco of Mays Landing, N.J.; his brother, Dennis Chiaramonte and wife Barbara of Erie, Pa.; Nephews David and his wife Barbara of Erie, Pa.; Scott and his wife Wendy of Erie, Pa. and Stephen and his wife Patricia of Erie, Pa. Doug is also survived by several cousins and other relatives as well as a couple hundred 30 yr. olds that always considered him a second father. Plans are being made for a wake to be held in Erie celebrating his life. If you would like to be notified, please email vince.chiaramonte@gmail.com. As a husband, father, grandpa and friendâ?¦he will be greatly missed.
