My Grandfather was your Grandfather Brother. He was Diego Chiarello. I think he was the 3rd or fourth born of the seeven brothers. I have a photo of all seven brothers from the early 20's.

They formed in the 1910's or 20's centry a lighterage & stevedore company named SEVEN BROTHERS. They all at one time lived in seven attached rows of houses in Brooklyn each house with a front porch. They made the seven porches into one long porch where they all ate every evening together w/their families. From this row of Houses w/some success they bought 'Solomons' Castle on the Bay of Jamica in Queens where they all lived w/their families until it burnt down via a painters oil cloth left on the roof in the 30's after living their just a few years. After it urnt down they allwent their separate way. On that same site, Rockawy HS was bulit a year or twwo after the fire. My grandfathe went on to from "american Stefedores' in Brooklyn an eventually had hius 4 sones run and trake over the company. Diego died in around 1962. Theere is a n obituary in the NY times the time hed died. If you want any more infopo contat me at josephchiarello@oponline.net

Looking for information regarding a Santa Chiarello, born around 1897 I believe in a town Castroreale, Sicily. I found a ship manifest that lists her as the wife to Rosario Trovato, and that her mother's name was Maria Girasia. I am actually trying to find more info about her husband Rosario Trovato as I believe he is a great-uncle. Any connections???

I am helping someone research Chiarello family, her gr grandparents were Luciano and Accursia Chiarello, he born abt. 1878 or 79; ship list indicated b.place was Sciacca. Could you tell me more about the 7 brothers? I'm having trouble finding Luciano on censuses and piecing together how they are all related.

Thanks,
Lisa

If Onofrio (Alfred) (1891 - 1964) was your great grandfather, he was also my father's oldest brother.

We lived across town (Gentilly) and did not have contact with the children of my Uncle Alfred and Uncle Paul, but I did visit the uncles at their work places.

I visited Sicily where they were born in November 2001.

I hope that you have had luck in your search.
Our Chiarello Background

Grandfather named Aurelio and his wife was Angela. They arrived in U.S. Ellis Island (according to their web page)in 1900 from Sciacca Sicily. Settled on Elizabeth St. in Little Italy New York and then moved to Brooklyn in 1920 or there abouts. His brother moved to San Francisco but the name changed to, I think, Carella. Met that portion of the family in late '70s. Aurelio & Angela' children were Dominic (my father)Paul,Gus, Accursia, and Anna.
My father in laws name is Blase and his father was Biagio. Blase was an engineer, but he is only in his sixties now. It sounds like it would be the same family though. I have forwarded your message to my sister in law to give to Blase, maybe they can help you. He has a sister named Flora. He also had 2 brothers and another sister. Valentine and Louie died in the past 3 years and the older brother died in his thirties. I'm not sure what his name was. Hope to here from you again. Gail

Hello Gail,
My name is Barbara Carey, and I am a friend of Nancy Chiarello. She is the daughter of Arthur Biagio Chiarello, who's father was a Biagio Chiarello, born about 1874 in or near Lecce, Italy.
He was married in Italy around 1894 to Luccia Longo. There is a brother in my fathers family who was listed as a missing person from the area of New York City around or near 1940, his name is Blase. Was your father in law Blase an artist?
George Jr

Sorry it took so long - I sometimes don't
check my email for weeks@! I'm into computers
and have been since 1986 - I did work as a
data entry when we lived in FL but I don't count that
much. I work for a credit card processing company
the largest in the world - that is why I moved
I was unemployed in NY and they offered me a job - I tried
at first to get employment back in Fl in Jax - but
came up empty handed - you will do well in networking - there
is a big call for that -and it is better to be in field where
there are more openings then people@@ The only thing in this field you have
to constantly stay on top of technology or you will get laid off
I took some c++ classes but I'm just getting to
old for this - I just want to retire in 10 years!!
Have you seen your Uncle Billy at all? I don't even know
if he is still around - don't mean to sound cruel - but that is a fact.
Tell Mom and your brothers Mark and Anthony hello- I get cards
from Anthony - and I'm so bad -I don't reply -so tell Anthony
I'm sorry - and I love them so much - and I wish I got to know you better.
But we can start to get to know each other now! Take care and let me know
if you need a letter of recomendation or anything when starting school.

Love Aunt Peg

Gaetano and Rosa Pillitteri were my dads aunt and uncle. Rose was a sister to my grandfather salvatore. The spelling was changed along the way. I have copies of both and my grandmothers birth and marriage certificates as well as naturalization and it is spelled differently. Rosa and Gaetano children all have different variations of the spellings. We are in contact with their reamining children. We were also close to a cousin who was named Frank Chiarrello who is now deceased.

Please contact me at nap1951@bellsouth.net

Nathalie Pellittieri Frederick
