Hello,
Lucius Chichester was my great grandfather. My grandmother with Birdie A. Chichester Smith, his daughter. I'm curious about Lucius's wife's first name. There seems to be confusion about whether it was Millie or Nellie and also what her maiden name was. How does the Barrett family enter into the genealogy? As a child, we used to go to the Manistee cemetery to visit his grave. I see in the 1900 census, their neighbors are listed as Andrew Smith with a son Thomas. Those names fit with the rest of the family history. Birdie A. Chichester married Thomas C. Smith (my grandfather).
Any and all information welcome.
Tom Smith

Consider Chichester Greene Co NY 1800s

looking for more information on Consider Chichester. He was supposedly born Aug 1816 in Albany County NY, moved to Greene county when he was about 19. He married Mary Ann --- (maiden surname not known), who was also born in Albany county. so they could have been married in either county. He was married by 1855 (NY state census), and could have been married abt 1848. It appears that they never had children (at least none that lived). They had an adopted daughter, Frances Catherine Elliston who was only a year old in 1855, but was listed as Frances Chichester in subsequent census records. Frances was the daughter of John Elliston and Catherine Rouse and was born in Greene county.
It's possible that the Chichesters were relatives somehow.
Mary Ann died between the 1880 and 1900 census. Consider appears to have died between the 1900 and 1910 census.
Consider had a brother named Azar, who was married to Lydia and had a daughter, Clarinda (b 1838) who lived with Consider on the 1900 census. It appears that Consider was maimed, handicapped or bedridden (1880 census)
If any of these people sound familiar or you know any more about them, please contact me.

Hello,

I recently came across this post concerning Chichesters. I am researching Mary Chichester, born in New Jersey around 1815, who married Robert Clyde, a Scot, and with whom had 2 children: Isaac and William.

Does any of this sound familiar to you in your research? I realize the spelling is different, but I have no records with the "Chichester" name on them...just family lore.

If you have any information that sounds likely, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Deborah Weeks
I have Chichester, Payne, Mitchell, Sydnor, McCarty, information as well as Chinn, Tarpley, Travers, Wilson. My road block is Wilson/Chinn marriage. Also they have a child with middle name of Doddridge also done by a neice or something - been wondering where that name came from thought it to be on the Wilson side as I had not seen it around the Chinns.

Although I am not of this line I have 11 of them that connect to my Ball and Chinn lines as well as one to McCarty. I have them as Chichester.

If anyone is interested in what I have on those collateral lines I would be happy to share. A lot of my work is not proven so I can only tell you what I've aquired.

Hello Paul,
I hope you are still answering postings. I wanted to let you know I have recently added info on the Chidesters/Chichesters, etc. to my webpage on rootsweb at this address:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~aberseek/index.html

I have credited you as one of my main sources. I am curious as to the history of this family back in Devon, England. Have you ever done a webpage or site? I have a report that you sent me a few years ago which is what I quote from on my webpage.

Hi Cindie,
I've been looking for the same line of Chichesters, I think. I am trying to find the father of James Henry Chichester. I have been told his father's name was Mac. JHC was born sometime around 1800. I, myself, and my mother, are from Alexandria. Can you shed any light on this mystery for me?
Carol

I believe you will find that the first wife of Richard Chichester was Anna Brangwin. This is in 'Marriage Licences Issued by the Faculty Office, 1632-1714. The date listed for marriage is '5 Aug 1680', County is 'General', Country is 'England. Hope this helps, even at this late date.
"B."

Email me with the Hopkins name. we knew some Hopkins real well, I worked for Mr. Hopkins (forgot his first name, his son's name was Ron) for a year in DC for a company called Group Association Plans. He lived a block away. My brother was extremely good friends with Ron. You can email me direct if you want.
My email is "MPNTHAGS@aol.com". Is your house on rt 236 or 123? I can understand you maybe not wanting to tell me exactly where but I betting if he was a lawyer he was probably somewhere near the city and courthouse. By the way we went many years to Truro Epsc. Church and I went to Fairfax HS.
Mike

Daniel McCarty is not my line but I may be able to determine some things. Where is your house; is it in Fairfax City? I grew up in Fairfax just off Burke Station Rd. near 236. The Chichester home from the 1700s was in Newington, and Col. Richard Chichester was George Washington's main confidant in the Rev. War. The home was called Mount Air and the actual house burned down in the 70s. The Chichester's held this house until many of the Chichester's moved all througout the area many to Fairfax, and many to Fauquier Co.s A book that might be helpful to you is a book on Mount Air, check with the Genealogical Society, the I am sure have a copy. Feel free to email me for information. I may have a copy of the book around somewhere. I work in Springfield, and live in Waldorf. Mike

His wife was Agnes Robisnon Moncure and they occupied the house from 1878-1902. He was a Judge and CW veteran of the "Fairfax Rifles". The house needed much renovation & I've needed inspiration, I would like to contact relatives who would know about them.

I live in Plainwell, MI and I have done some research on the Chidesters that ended up here from the east. Most of my Chidesters came from Ohio (Marietta) and moved from Fulton, Ill to Jefferson ILL and down into Missouri where most of my ggrandparents are buried. I noticed there were many Chidesters in a grave yard in Hastings, Michigan. My
ggrandfather was George W. Chidester and ggrandmother was Adeline Giles Chidester. They moved to Missouri with Drews and Clarks. Adeline's sister was married to Jesse Drew. I have lots of information on this line but, was wondering if your Chidesters came from New Jersey to Ohio to ILL.
