CHIDDIX, John, died February 2, 1884; age, 66 years, 1 month, 2 days

CHIDDIX, Rachel, wife of John CHIDDIX, died July 18,1887, age, 53 years

CHIDDIX, Samuel, born July 30, 1846, died May 16, 1902

I will be glad to share what information I have, however Marsha Greer has just posted the Chiddix information that has been gathered so far on World Connect. Give it a look. She is a Chiddix descendent where I am a married into. Happy to answer questions. Just let me know.

Dear Kathy Wesley--Thanks for the posting of 10 Jun 2001 and sorry I'm so long in responding. Went back to work and am just getting back to my genealogy. I have copy of the 1860 Illinois census for Palestine, Crawford, IL which shows Robert Chiddix , age 29, Rebecca, age 27. and William, age 1. This would make his DOB either 1830 or 1831 depending on the mo. as the census was taken in June of 1860. Do you have any further info on their children? My paternal Grandmother was a daughter, Dora Chiddix Little and from her obituary I learn that she was one of 12 children but none of them were listed by name. The obit also states that she was the last of the children. They were married in Tazewell VA Aug. 28, 1856. Eli Chiddix

I am sure that you have this by now, Eli Chiddix as born abt 1782. His mother was a Jennings, sister of my Jesse Jennings Sr 1755-1829. I think the father of Eli was William Chiddix found living in Campbell Co VA near Jesse according to tax lists of about 1785.

I have Eli marrying Sarah Henniger 5 Feb 1807

I recently came upon some information which leads me to believe they lived near the village of Seneca in present day Campbell County. My Jesse had children born as early as 1776 and all the indications I have are that the Jennings were in Bedford (later Campbell) County as early as 1775.

I have found both names, Chiddix and Jennings to have various spellings at this time. Chiddix/Shadec/Cheddocks and Jennings/Jinnins/Jenens etc.

Jesse Jennings left for Grainger County TN about 1800 and I think about that same time the Chiddix moved to Washington Co VA. William Chiddix was deceased by 1800.

If anybody can shed any more light on this I would sure appreciate it.

Robert Buchanan Chiddix

I believe the Robert Buchanan Chiddix is my great-great grandfather.
The information that I have shows that he was born in 1825.
Rebecca Jane Anderson was born March 31, 1832.

My great-grandfather was their son, William Anderson Chiddix. I
would appreciate any further information you may have.

Am looking for info on this Chiddix born in Washington co. Va. around 1830, married to Rebecca Jane Anderson in Tazewell, Va 28 Aug. 1856 and eventually moved to Crawford co. Ill. The marriage date is all I have and need birth dates on both Robert Rebecca. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thans.
