I'm doing my family tree. Joshua Allan Childers is a beyond distant relative, but I seem to not be able to find anything on him. That part of the tree is just stuck. I found a ton of information on his wife, Daisy May Hosler, and her family.
All I found was that he was born November 1866, and in Mounds, Pulaski, Illinois.

I would really appreciate the help.

I just started doing my family tree and was looking on the message board when I came across Your message. My grandfather was William Childers. He was either born in or spent alot of time in Kentucky. That is where my dad "Bill/Willie" was born. My gandfather had a brother named Hanson who lived in Indianapolis, Indiana. Somewhere in my memory I recall my dad saying that he was related to the Alexander family. I believe they live(d) in Kentucky or Illinois.They also may have relatives in Evansville, Indiana.

The mother of these children was Martha Emeline(Banks) Mitchell,Childers. Do not have a name for the Mr. Childers. This is information I am needing to find. Who fathered Eliza ,William and Katie. Luther Molver CHILDERS

Looking for information on Luther Molver Childers, born 1876 in Tipah Co, Miss. to Stephen Harrison and Linnie Griffin Childers. He married May Capt, probably in Texas. Found him on the 1920 census in Elmer, OK., occupation listed as banker. His undated obituary (Southern Sentinel, Tippah Co.) says he died in Tipton, OK, which is where his brother Dr. Joe Childers lived. (Family history indicates that his death was the result of an accident with a train.) His father died in 1824, and Luther is not listed as a survivor, so I believe his death was likely between 1920 and 1924, which mean he would have been in his early 40s at his death.

I am a proven descendant of Jacob Childers (born 1762 in Virginia/ died 1844 in South Carolina). I have researched his family blood line for 20 years and have a data base of direct descendants of 4100 relatives. The related lines, wives, husbands and their parents total 14,000 all in one data base. If you are related to this line, chances are that I am aware of you. My request now is to add your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and your family if I have missed them. This man was my great-grandmother's second husband. Among family photos, we have a studio portrait of him. My great-grandmother was Emily Ellis Baker Hankins Childers. Her second husband, Thomas L. Childers was a minister and had Rena, Myrtle, Milton and Earl. I understand that Myrtle has a son Raymond McKensie. We are looking for a good home for the studio portrait of Reverend Thomas L. Childers.

Apparently, there is some controversy amongst the various researchers as to whether Dulcina and Drucy are the same person because of inconsistencies between the dates of birth and reported parents. I'm sending the attachments for the files for Lewis and Drucy Childers death certificates.

Dulcina information:
Dulcina was listed with Lewis in the 1900 census at Broad River Township. Her estimated date of birth was 1831. Lewis' death certificate lists his parents as Dulcia Erwood and John Childers. The informant was J. Childers. The 1850 census lists a Kiley Arrwood with wife Rosanna and the appropriate aged Dulcinea. The 1850 census asks if the marriage occurred within the year; that box is checked for both Kiley and Rosanna.

Drucy information:
However, Drucy's death certificate states she lived in King's Mountain Township at the time of her death with her date of birth as 1844. Additionally, the death certificate information was reported by Earl Price; I don't know if he was a relative or not. Her parents were reported as Wylie Good and Judie Tigue. Another thing that I noted on the pension apllication for Drucy was that she reported she was married to John on 10 Aug 1862. I don't know if the custom on the applications was to report whether they were married on the actual wedding date or the date of enlistment for the man in the CSA forces.

I can see both sides of the argument whether Drucy and Dulcina are the same person. I looked for a Drucy in the 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses. I did a first name only search (drucy and Drucilla) with the estimated date of birth from the pilot site at family search. No such person is reported with a name close to Childers. I can also see the informant, Earl Price, reported Kiley Arrwood as Wylie Good. Kiley could be Riley or Wiley. Arrwood was reported as Erwood on Lewis's death certificate by a family member. It is not unreasonable for a non-family member to report the name as Good.

The best thing I can think of to clarify is to look for Dulcina/Drucy in the 1910 and 1920 census records. I'll have to be able to go the Dallas Public Library to do the search. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thank you for the info on the Childers/Farmer family. I knew that there was a Farmer branch in Chesterfield Co early. I thought it had started with a Thomas Farmer but was not able to find parents for him. Maybe he is a son of John. My husband goes back to the Farmer family who were in Essex Co in the early 1700's. His ancestor is also a John Farmer. Do you think there may be a connection between these two families? My husband goes back to the Clarke family that was in Chesterfield & Amelia conty also in the early 1700's. They marr into the Ligon, Branch, Perkinson,Wheelhouse,Crostic,Rives,Puckett,Tucker,Dunnavant,Newby and Rowlett just to name a few.

SUMMARY of changes to compiled parentage of BOTH SPOUSES: Lucy Childers and her husband Wesley Childers who married 28 Sept 1833 in Grant Co KY: [Formerly before 24 June 2009, Virginia Hanks compiled Wesley Childers as son of Solomon Childers, even though recent research emphasizes that father-Solomon&son-Wesley relationship remains totally unconfirmed by any document. Now Lucy (Childers) Childers) White's death record shows Wesley Childers's wife can no longer be asserted as dtr of Wm H Childers. Yet Grant Co KY Court Bk B: 370 of Nov 1842 shows Wm H. Childers to be Adm of Wesley's estate. Due to that discrepancy, we now remove Wesley as son of Solomon Childers, and compile Wesley as the last unknown-name census boy who was son of Wm. H Childers.]

Mary honditch's evidence does show that Lucy White who died July 1852 on County death records was evidently only child of the 18 march 1814 (Pendleton Co. KY bond date all that is known to us) Abraham Childers marriage to Sarah Morris. NOTE THAT CHANGE IN compiled parentage was announced 25 June 2009 by Virginia C. Hanks, a major source of the compiled Childers lines posted on

Note that Abraham is descended from a line of Childers shown by DNA etc by Childers-Childress Assn, evidently not to be related in North America to most of the other Grant Co. KY Childers lines.

Since Wm H Childers was administrator of Wesley/Westley Childers probate after Nov 1842 in Grant Co. KY, in Grant Co. KY Court Book B: 370 in Nov. 1842.

We infer that Wm H. Childers was father of Wesley Childers, first husband of the above Lucy (Childers) (Childers) White (ca.1815 - 1852). Wesley married Lucy 28 Sep 1833 so usual age for bridegroom makes Forsythe infer he born ca 1816 (mrs Hanks says born 1815-1820, from the census age categories of Wm H Childers' kids.) Lenora was my Grandmother, her husband was Elisha Henderson CHILDERS and his father was Jonathan CHILDERS, and his father was Samuel, senior, CHILDERS, his father was William, senior, CHILDERS and from that point I am lost in information. I did much research. LENORA WAS FROM THE ESCH/ASH lineage. The name became anglicized to ASH. HER father was STEPHEN ASH.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Nancy K. Childers, 55, of Muscatine, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Graveside Services will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.

Ms. Childers was born on March 1, 1953, in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of Nels and Lora Hiniker Todd Nelson. She married Louis Childers and later divorced.

Nancy worked as an office manager at Riverbend Excavating. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, sewing and most of all spending time with her family.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Daniel Childers of Muscatine, Joseph Childers and wife, Tracy of Sulphur, Louisiana, Wendy Childers of Muscatine and Darcy Hartman of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Sammy, Joseph and Andrew Childers and Zach and Logan Docherty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Richard and Tom and one sister, Polly

To those who might read this post. Will Childers' wife was not Hattie McKee, but Lottie/Lettie Windham. The information about her being a McKee was from family lore. As with much family lore, stories and names became scrambled over time. My guess is that she was the sister of Ed Windham, who died in Rains County TX. They were also from either Kemper or Lauderdale Co. Miss. I don't know who their parents were. They are not my line.
