Dear Gladys,
I feel really daft. I've just spent the last 24 hours gathering information from an online resource of old papers from the Singapore libraries. I found a whole load of things I didn't know about members of my family - all Chills - some of whom I didn't know about.
Then, I got a bit bored (time for lunch!), and thought I'd see if anyone had posted anything about the Chills in the last year or two! What an idiot I am - I saw your reply, and couldn't believe it! This side of the family is a bit of a mystery, and researching it is very hard as not every country in Asia is online with things like newspapers etc. So, I would be very happy to swap info if you have any - maybe the stuff I have will ring some bells too!
Have a look at the pic I took from my laptop today - it has the names of some of my relations - they would be my great grandmother and her siblings - the one in the article this is featured on died in France on duty in 1916 - this was reported in The Singapore Free Press and Mercantile Advertiser (1884-1942), 15 March 1917, Page 5

Best wishes,
Jessica
