Now I've learned from my Aunt, who tneds to give out family history in bits and pieces, that our Chippy line originated out of Virginia. My GGgrandfather William Chippy was born in Virginia. They ended up in Chillicothe, Ross Co, Ohio around the time of the Civil War, she said that was because he wanted to fight for the Union Army. He did serve for a unit in Ohio, I belive it was the 27th Ohio Infantry. She said that one of her great grandmother's, maybe William's mother who's name she does not know, was born on the Isle of Man. She also said she had a cousin that went by Will Chippy and his wife's first name was Lizzie. William would have also had a daughter Anna, who was my great grandmother. I've finally been able to send for a copy of Anna's death certificate so maybe some light will be shed upon my line.
