Deb,
Thank you for this information. I will look on facebook for Mineral Ridge, Ohio. I was in Mineral Ridge and Youngstown and area visiting ceremonies taking pictures. I was hoping to get time to check out the library and history centers -- but never enough time. Have other family names in this area also.

Charlotte
ccook520@aol.com
The Mineral Ridge Historical Society now has a facebook page. Many of the early family's have been discussed and informtion is being gathered. I am familar with the Chittock name in Mineral Ridge History, but have not noted their names or photo's posted on the Historical Society page. It would be great if you could view the Historical Society page and also if you would care to post and share their photo's and family information. Often said on the page is that most of the old historical documents and references repeat informaton about the same familys of Mineral Ridge and so many other famiy's who lived there and contributed to the growth of the community are seldom mentioned in those referances. It is the hope that information can be gathered on those other family's so that they also will be remembered in the history of Mineral Ridge. I was promted to your post while looking for information on the Phillips family of Mineral Ridge, but I am now very glad that I saw your post and hope to see you on the facebook page of the Mineral Ridge Historical Society Group
Debra Myers
Mineral Ridge Ohio e-mail debral555@yahoo.com

William Chittock b. 1841 Market Weston

I'm looking for any information regarding William Chittock b. c1841 Market Weston, Suffolk (UK). He married Charlotte Hubbard and is my 3rd great-grandfather. I would really like to know if anyone can find any reference to their marriage, as I'd like to find their marriage certificate, but can't order it if I'm only guessing their year of marriage. Their eldest child as of the 1871 census was born c. 1867, so I'm guessing c. 1866.

If any one has any information - please let me know!

I've also got a picture of Charlotte Maud Chittock, William and Charlotte's daughter, if anyone is interested. :-)

Jack, I read with interest your posting inquiring about the Chittock family of Farnam.

I have lived in Farnam 3 score and ten and am currently doing research of the lives of the early settlers in Farnam and area in anticipation of writing a book ..."What happened after they left". Have been gleaning the early printings of the local newspaper, The Farnam Echo searching for ads, obituaries, births, moves and etc., for each family.

Any information or STORIES that you would like to share with me would be much appreciated for my research. Also are there any pictures of the original family here in Farnam or photos of the village buildings or surrounding area?

Have you checked out this website...<http://www.wjh.us>? You can find a reproduction of the 1936 50th anniversary paper there plus cemetery burials, obituaries, and more. There is to be a change soon in the format with more pictures of the area and stories added.

There is a 1981 Farnam History book available in print and it will soon be on the web site scanned in from the proofs when printed.

If I can be of any help please let me know,
Thank you,
Betty

Frank,

My father Fred (I am his daughter by his second marriage) was your first cousin. I am interested in any details that you have on his father or grandfather's generations. According to the 1881 British Census and news clippings, what I have is:

father: Arthur Chittock, age 26, born Stonham Aspall, England; labourer at ironworks
mother: Mary Ann, age 22, born Winston, Suffolk, England
daughter: Florence Naomi, age 2

Fred Sr. b 12/25/1880 England - d 12/10/33
Arthur b ?8/9/1888 - d ?5/65 Ohio
Frank b ?8/16/93 - ? d 2/74
Sadie b ? - d ?, married name Rummell
I have no information on Ed or Jane. I do remember going with my father to visit an "Aunt Jane" somewhere around Pittsburgh. However, there was no mention of a sister Jane in Fred Sr.'s obituary.

Can you fill in any of the dates/places above? Any idea when Arthur and Mary Ann migrated to the U.S. or which port they entered through? Any information would be appreciated.

I also found a birth record for an Arthur Chittock, born 4/14/1854 in Stonham Aspall, Suffolk; parents Robert and Sarah Chittock. This fits with Arthur's 1881 census information. Might you have any data on previous generations?

Dear Jack,
I just read your request concerning Chittock's in Ohio. My father was Frank Lawrence Chittock, son of Arthur and Mary Chittock [who were married in England and had several children before arriving in America]. My grandparents had a son Fred, Edward, Art, and my dad, Frank. Their daughters were Florence, Sade and Jane. Grandfather was a rural mail carrier working out of Niles, Ohio. Grandfather Arthur passed away around the age of 58, having died of a stroke. He raised his family in Evansville, Ohio, just east of Niles. My uncle Fred had two sons, Arthur and Fred. Arthur had a son Arthur and Fred had a son named Fred. My uncle Art had a sons Tomas, John [Jack] and Wesley. He had a daughter Ida Jean [who is the sole surviver of his family. Uncle Art was married to Edith Davis of Niles. Thomas had a son Wesley [living in California presently] and two daughters [living in McDonald, Ohio]. Jack had two sons and a daughter. Ida Jean, now a widow, lives in Sun City, AZ.Uncle Art's son, Wes, lived most of his married life in Bimington, NY. He passed away several years ago. Sad, but true, most of my Chittock family were stricken with heart problems. I am the sole surviving male of my Grandfather Arthur. I have one son, Paniel Paul who lives in Trenton, Michigan [a Baptist minister of the gospel. He has three sons, Daniel, Andrew and John. I am presntly retired. I serve in my local Church here in Lakeland, Florida and serve as Chaplain to al large Presbyterian Apartment Complex. My wife, Norma [we have been together for 55 years] is the bookstore manager of Spurgeon Baptist Bible College of Mulberry, Florida

Florence M. Chittock was my father's sister known as Flory. Your information is correct as to parents, marriage and birth dates. Florence and Tom are burried at the Niles Memorial Cementary, Niles, OH. Florence had sisters Sade, and Jane - brothers, Fred, Ed [who died at age 2 or 3 of a broken heart, Arthur, and my father, Frank Lawrence Chittock. I believe they had two children, a son and daughter.

Charlotte, here is the information that I have on my fraternal line. My grandfather is most likely the brother of your husband's great-grandmother.
