Hello, Just thought i'd put my 2 cents worth in. My Mother is Brenda Ann Chitwood(Raines)originally from Gastonia, NC. My Grandfather was Charlie Chitwood who died Jan. 1 1979. To make a long story short we are ancestors of James Monroe Chitwood, i do know that Daniel M Chitwood (B:1763) is my 5th Great Grandfather. Willy Bee Chitwood (B:1805-1879) is my 4th Great Grandfather. James Monroe Chitwood is my 3rd Great Grandfather. William T. Chitwood (1868-1938)(Hartwell, GA) is my 2nd Great Grandpa. Bee Hilly Chitwood (1910-1974) (Austell, GA) is my Great Grandpa who married Lula Mae Vaughn (1910-1975). His son is my grandfather i mentioned who lived (1931-1979).
Here's something interesting
Daniel Chitwood had a child named Pheebe (B:1798 in GA), He then had a child named Caleb Chitwood who married Sicily Mize, they had a daughter named Amanda Chitwood (B:1870) who is the mother of Ty Cobb, (The first Baseball player ever elected into the Hall Of Fame). That makes Ty Cobb my 2nd Great Cousin. Weird Huh. I'm also related to stunt car driver Joey Chitwood, who comes frm the line directly from Matthias Chitwood (B: 1681 originally spelt "Cheatwood") who came from England over to Powhatan County Virgina.
If any of these names are familiar in your family, e-mail me so we can figure out this thing further.
