It is my opinion that the death date, often repeatedas before 1858, for Lazarus Chitwood, born 1778, is incorrect.
The 1850 Federal Census has Lazarus and Mary Chitwood in DeSoto Countyy,MS.In his household were James, John & Francis Marion; children of his son, Nelson. In a bordering county is widowed second wife of Nelson, who did go to Smith county, TX with her stepson James.Francis Marion was in the household of Pleasant S. Parker on 1860 census,Chickasaw Co., MS & joined 17th Vol. Infantry and was killed at Chickamauga. I believe to have been a 1st cousin to PS Parker.
