TOMMYE O. WATKINS CHOATE
HEALDTON [OK] -- Services for Tommye Oceania WATKINS CHOATE, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, at the Shell Street Church of Christ with Roy Hannah officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.
Mrs. CKOATE was born Oct. 17, 1915, at Mountain Park, Okla., to Dr. Thomas J. and Willie Cordelia DOWDA WATKINS. She died [Thursday] June 22, 2000, in a Wilson [Okla.] health care facility.
With her family, she moved to Oklahoma City at age two, then to Healdton [Okla.] in 1921 where her father opened a chiropractic office in Healdton and in Clemscott. She worked at the Gainesville State School in Gainesville, Texas as a housemother, retiring in 1985. She had been a member of Shell Street Church of Christ all her life.
She married Bertiss O. CHOATE on Jan. 8, 1938, in Ardmore, Okla. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1970.
Survivors include a daughter, Berta L.DEVONPORT and husband, Charles, of Tulsa, Okla; a son, John Thomas CHOATE and wife, LaJuana, of Healdton, Okla; a sister, Dr. Ruby E. WIllIAMSON, Healdton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren
Bearers will be George Baumann, Roger Tupin, Larry Waller, Tom McNeil, Kellon Adams and Jim Lynch.
Honorary bearers are Kenneth Eck, Mark Eck, Joe Stewart, Joe Buben, Dale Thompson and Othal Ballard.
