It's interesting that I came across your message. I'm researching my mother's family. I'm from Kahaluu and my mother's maiden name is Chong. She has a huge family, and I know that the Chong's use to own the hygenic store in Kahaluu.

By any chance was your dad from ChungJu South Korea? My last name is spelled Chung but prounounced "Jeong"... My father's Korean name is Jeong Young, english name Anthony Chung. I know that I have family's in South Korea and USA including LA where you seem to be. This is a loooong shot but I'm also curious about my family history as my father seemed to keep everything secret. Our grandparent passed away in the last few years.

Any info on a Chinese shopkeeper in the Princes Town/San Fernando area of Trinidad with surname Chong, or Lee Chong or John Lee Chong around the early 1900's? He was the father of at least two children prior to his return to China. Thanks.

I'm hoping you can help me as I am trying to find information on Charles Su Chong who came to Australia in the 1800's and married Eliza Gale at Araluen NSW Australia. Eliza is an ancestor of our family tree. Large deposits of Gold were discovered at Araluen which caused a gold rush with many immigrants coming from China. I am not familar with Chinese names so I would like know if his surname is Chong, Su Chong SUCHONG and if there is a connection with your ancestors.

Sorry, I don't have much information regarding Dr.Achong beyond the fact that he was a past mayor of POS and had two sons that I recall -Eugene (dec'd) and John. My search really concerns Chong or Tam Chong family roots. No charge for my amateur searches. Are you related to the late Albert or John Alkins (great footballers)?Good luck in your quest.

Sorry, I have no information on Chongs or Achongs going to the US. Perhaps there is a connection to a former mayor of POS namely Dr.Tito Princiliano Achong.Good luck.

I am a Tang Choon from Trinidad who has been trying to research my ancestry for the last 2 years without avail. I find it strange that you say the name derived from Chong. My grandfather and father were from China and were of Cantonese origin but that is all I know.

There are several variations of the name of Chong e.g. Cheung(Cantonese), Zhang, Chiang, Chang, also Teo, Teoh,Jong and Tang. As far as I have discovered so far, my ancestor came from Guandong(Canton) province sometime in the late 91th or early 20th century as a Chinese immigrant to then British colony of Trinidad. His name might have been Tam Chong or Tam Chun, which later evolved into Tang Choon among other variations.I'd be grateful to hear from persons wth Trinidad connections carrying such names.

My aunt was born with the maiden name of Chong in Belleville, Ontario. At the age of 3 or 4, she was adopted by a family who moved from Canada to southeast Asia (Phillipines perhaps) in 1915 or 1916. In the late 1950's she moved to Toronto with her husband and family. Her married name was Fung Oy Kwan, and lived at 25 Enderby Road in Toronto, Ontario in the 60's and 70's. I would appreciate any info on her or her children.

My former husband, Peng-Khuan Chong, is from Malaysia. Chong is a very common surname, but in his case he was actually Choong, and records somewhere along the way changed it. Maybe that was British record keeping. It may help to spell it different ways while looking. Good luck.

My wife was put in an orphanage at the age of 4,
in Korea. She can remember her mother, her brother,and
her two sisters. Anybody who can help, I would greatly
appreciate it. I believe that they all are still
living in Korea. Some where around Sol, Korea. The Orphanage,
was in O'San. I am in dire need to find these people.
