Christine Christianson

I am looking for information on my great grandmother, Christine Christianson. From what I have been able to find, she was born about 1886 in MN, possible to a Hans. I don't have anything on her mother yet, other than they were both from Denmark. She married the first time to a James Jackson. Don't the year. They divorced and she married Jacob Hanson in 1916 in Stephan MN. She lived mostly in Ward County ND, the Kenmare area. In a 1915 Census she has a brother, Christ age 24 living with her. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, they were from Norway originally. I also have found out they spelled their name Christenson. My grandmother was born in 1890 in Fertile, Minnesota. Her father was Gustave Martin Christenson, born in 1858 in Christiana, Norway.
Thank you for responding to my query.

I have a bit of information on this family. I just found John Alberts war record from the first world war. Look at (Mapping our Anzacs.naa.gov.au) Let me know what information you want. May Christiansson, Antons youngest child?was my grandmother. I think that all of Antons children except 2 died young. I think Eric went on a surf trip to Stradbroke island and contracted a mosquito bourne disease and died young. Raleigh was kicked in the head at a fair by a horse and died but not instantly. Ill have a look for more information

Take a look at the 1905 Wisconsin census for John (and Martha)'Christainson' and the 1900 Fed census for John 'Christinson' living in Pine Valley Wisconsin.
They list a daughter Madge who was born in July 1890 in Wisc. John is listed on one census as being from Sweden, but the others I looked at all say Norway. Might be who you are looking for.

Magnus Christianson/Christensen Brooklyn NY

Hi,

I am trying to find out more information about my great grandparents, Magnus and Martha Christianson. Magnus was born in Norway 5/24/1887 and immigrate to the US in 1908. He was naturalized in 1913. According to family history, his last name was spelled Christensen, but when he immigrated/was naturalized he changed the spelling to Christianson because he thought it was more “American” looking. He married Martha Smith, who was born in NY in 1890. They lived in Brooklyn, NY, and had 4 children, including my grandfather. My mother also remembers that Magnus had a relative (a cousin??) who also lived in Brooklyn, named Aarvid Christensen. Martha died in 1943, and Magnus died 7/21/1951. Family history is muddled here, but according to my grandmother, Magnus had had a nervous breakdown and was in an asylum in/near Brooklyn when he died. Supposedly he had been smoking in a bathroom and had started a fire that killed him. I would love help finding out any more information about either Magnus or Martha’s families, plus anything about the asylum and/or fire killed Magnus. Thanks!
Re: CHRISTIANSON Jenny

"Christiansen"-with the ending 'sen',instead of 'son'-could make a difference but not always. Depends on variables i.e. transcription typos, etc., my limited knowledge is that the 'sen' ending could suggest Norweigen decent, 'son' suggests Swedish-not sure how its usually spelled in Danish or Finnish-any insight welcome. My MGM was Jenny Greaves nee Christianson, her father was a carpenter, immigrated from Sweden, mother from Finland and they lived in New York. Her father's sister also Jenny Christianson, married a Carlson and after my GGM was orphaned, she and her brother Eddy, Edward Albert Christianson went to live with their Aunt's family. My MGM is buried in Long Island. Any connections welcome.

CHRISTIANSON, STANLEY REUBEN - Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient KOREAN WAR

CHRISTIANSON, STANLEY R.

Rank and organization: Private First Class, U.S. Marine Corps, Company E, 2d Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division (Rein.). Place and date: Seoul, Korea, 29 September 1950. Entered service at: Mindoro, Wis. Born: 24 January 1925, Mindoro, Wis. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Company E, in action against enemy aggressor forces at Hill 132, in the early morning hours. Manning 1 of the several listening posts covering approaches to the platoon area when the enemy commenced the attack, Pfc. Christianson quickly sent another marine to alert the rest of the platoon. Without orders, he remained in his position and, with full knowledge that he would have slight chance of escape, fired relentlessly at oncoming hostile troops attacking furiously with rifles, automatic weapons, and incendiary grenades. Accounting for 7 enemy dead in the immediate vicinity before his position was overrun and he himself fatally struck down, Pfc. Christianson, by his superb courage, valiant fighting spirit, and devotion to duty, was responsible for allowing the rest of the platoon time to man positions, build up a stronger defense on that flank, and repel the attack with 41 of the enemy destroyed, many more wounded, and 3 taken prisoner. His self-sacrificing actions in the face of overwhelming odds sustain and enhance the finest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. Pfc. Christianson gallantly gave his life for his country.

Source: http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm

BURIAL INFORMATION

Location: Mindoro, Wisconsin

Cemetery: Wet Coulee Cemetery

Born: 1925 at Mindoro, WI

Died: 1950 Killed in Action -- Awarded Posthumously.

Source, additional information and cemetery monument photo:

http://www.homeofheroes.com/gravesites/states/pages_af/chris...

Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_R._Christianson

Note: This is not my ancestry. Christiana, Jane, Helena and Elena; the eldest was born in Perry, and the others in Primrose. Mr. Christianson and family belong to the Norse Evangelical Lutheran Conference; he is a Republican, and was District Clerk several years. He began in Wisconsin with just $1, and has earned every cent and every acre." page 1091, Town of Primrose, History of Dane County, 1880? I am not researching this family but thought this data might be helpful to someone. I suppose there is the chance that ChristiansOn should be spelled ChristiansEn and GullecksOn as GullecksEn.

I really can;t see any connection...but I don;t think if it were me, I wouldn;t throw the pictures away....someday , especially , if there was an adoption, they may be a treasure found , for the right person...I searched for Charlotte, for over 40 yrs, as she was my husband;s natural grandmother...and just before xmas, last, I had success ....

I was a little girl when my mother used to mind a baby named Nancy Christianson. Her mother's name was Irene and Irene subsequently married a Bill Johnson. I am not positive my information is correct about Nancy's father, John, being from Norway as he could very well have been from Sweden. I was only about 6 or 7 years of age at the time. I was told Nancy was adopted out. I have all these baby pictures of her that I have just received from my mother who died in November, 2005. I hate to throw them out.

I have pictures of a Nancy Christianson whose parents were John Christianson and Irene. These pictures have been in my family for over 50 years and I would like to give them to Nancy. Do you know where she lives? John Christianson I believe was from Norway.
