hi. I live in NZ
I have just read your post as I troll through pages and pages of info. I have a Mary Anne Cristie in my family. She was Mary Anne McDonald b.1876 (Mull scotland) died 1966 in NZ. Mary Anne was married to my great grandfather William Christie b. 1860 died 1942 in NZ.
I am desperately seeking my great grandfathers father and brother who immigrated to Australia, perhaps on the ship 'Silistria' in 1860. These 3 men, (father and 2 sons) left Glasglow bound for NZ but I believe father and one son (name unknown to me) got off in Australia, my g.grandfather arrived at Port Chalmers Dunedin Oct 1880. Is there any connection here??

CHRISTIE'S IN IOWA

I am searching for information regarding Harry and Nellie Christie (originally Norway) who moved from MN to IA between 1910 and 1920. The 1920 census shows Harry, Nellie, Max and Avis at Thompson, Winnebags, IA. By 1930 it shows Nellie widowed and her children, Spirit Lake, Dickinson, IA -she is keeping house for Walter White.

I question that she was widowed as have found a death record for Harry Christie in Hennepin Co, MN in 1967. I find a death record for Nellie April 1968 Denison, Crawford, IA.

Does anyone have access to look for a divorce between this couple between 1920 and 1930? Can anyone offer any suggestions???
Jeanine in MN

Looking for direct Fem descendent of Sarah/Mrs. James Christie

We're looking for a direct female-line descendent of Sarah/Sally, wife of James Christie. Sarah 1762-1844.
The line MUST go from her to daughter, to the daughter' dau, etc.

Myself, and three other descendents of Sarah and James Christie, are interested in doing a Mt-DNA test via Family Tree DNA (FTDNA.com). WE WILL PAY THE TESTING FEES. It involves brushing the inside of one's cheek with a special brush/kit from FTDNA.

The documented line must be ONLY mother to dau. so please double check the line by looking at it from both directions, i.e. from Sarah down to the present and then from the present up to Sarah.

We can test a male but only if it's his mother who is in the direct line (not his grandmother).

We admit to being insatiably curious - we want to see if there's an validity to the persistent family story that Sarah was the daughter of an Indian Chief; we'd like to see if we match with anyone who can actually prove that Sarah's name was Lemon/Lemmon, and we'd like to find out where Sarah sits on the World's Haplotree and what the ancient migration was of her direct female line.

In your reply please put the names of those in your direct line but leave out the names of those who are living (just put in the relationship).

I will post a reply via this board.

Surnames of Sarah's daughters: Dunn, Lewis, Miles, Penn?

Thank you.

I am seeking further information on the life of JAMES CHRISTIE who was involved in a scheme to construct the Penshurst Canal in Tonbridge, Kent in the 1820s. I am pretty sure that I have all the readily available facts relating to his scheme and his bankruptcy in London but have as yet been unable to ascertain any facts about his family life either in England or subsequent to his alleged absconding to America - I have assembled many immigration and US Census records for many JAMES CHRISTIEs which can be viewed in an Ancestry Public Tree CHRISTIE PENSHURST - can you help me eliminate them?. Maybe even descendants of his former associates in Tonbridge would have some information: surnames Wilson, Paterson and Whyte.

He eventually settled in the Atlanta area and was a banker in Decatur, Ga. where he and his wife are buried. I would like to see the document if you could e-mail it to me. Thanks

Instead of just guessing etc, why not send for your father's b/c which will give both his parents' names? Then go for both his parents' d/c, m/c & b/c. Then look for other children with same parents. You have to do some work and perhaps spend some money for BMDs, but it will give you exact answers and save you from climbing the wrong tree(s).

Joining groups specific to Jamaica would greatly help you in your quest.

Toni

Sorry no I don't, never heard of any brothers or sisters; like I said my father is from the Alexander, Philadelphia, Browns Town area. I think my Grand father died and was buried in Port Maria. My father had one sister who was Iris Watkis from Port Maria, St Mary.

Looking for Francis Christie. Help!

Hi. I am new to all this. I have had lots of success on my mothers side but am really struggling with my fathers as I know so little about him - is there anyone with more experience who can help me? I have found what I think is his death record but cannot find his birth. His name was Francis (Frank) Christie. He was born in December 1931 in Belfast Northern Ireland. I know he had a brother William and two sisters Teresa and Jean but I think he had other siblings. He moved to the North West of England in, I think, the early fifties. That's about all I know. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks for reading, Debra.

My father is Charles Berry Christie. His father is Francis Christie (married to Sadie Berry) and his father is George Begg Christie (married to Jessie Campbell) and his father is Francis Christie. I only started researching everything this week and I am surprized how quickly it is going. I actually have Christie on both my mother and father's side.
Enos Christie was my grand uncle. He has two brothers and four sisters. We just had a family reunion in Atlanta, GA with extended family from FL, NJ, NY, MA, GA, Jamaica, Venuzuela, Panama and the UK.

In the attached photo he is the first born son and my grand mother is the lady beside him. The photo shows him and the rest of his siblings he being the oldest going down to the youngest lady on the right.

If its the same Enos Christie then I know he had four girls and maybe three boys. I know the women but I dont remember his sons back in the 60s or later.

He was my Grandmother's brother, he use to be a taylor in Vinyard Town in JA.

We have the Family Tree from the slave owner down to the last born child which was five weeks ago.
