Thank you for your reply. Yes, that is the Christman I was referring to. I have alot of Christman info on Heinrich and his decendents. I have been researching them for many years now and am still searching here and there. Thats interesting that they are not related. I had heard from an elder many years back (when I was younger and not as interested in genealogy) that two Christman brothers came over to the new world. I believe he was referring to Heinrich but I am not sure of the other Christman and this gentleman has since passed away. A wealth of information.. gone. I have since come to appreciate the knowledge of the elderly and love to listen to their stories! Sorry for the babble, thanks for clearing that up for me =)

If you are referring to Heinrich Christman c1706-1768. The answer is no.

At least that is what DNA states.
Hi- great info-- the headstones of Martin and sALLY cHRISTMAN ARE FACTING THE ROAD--It's a tall stone--hope you find it. I've copied all the letters--so interesting. I have a granddaughter Echo Elizabeth who for her 11th birthday wanted the family genealogy of her Greatgrand mother Ruth Christman Winchip and she just had a lot of fun reading how they wrote back then--she got an A+ on the book. Looking forward for your email. Barbara

I was wondering if by any chance you have any extra, so I my purchase one. Also how much would it be.

I thank you for your time on this matter.

I come from Christman’s that were in Ohio and some came to Wisconsin. Some of the land records say he went by Frances Daniel Christman or Daniel Frances Christman. I also have family records on Frank D. Christman. Again thank you.

Sincerely,

Patricia (Wasson – Christman) Jerzak

My email is: jerzaks@mtc.net

Canada to Emily Edith Puttock.(marriage licence gives her name as Puddy) Any connections?
gbottpaula@comcast.net

This is where I am stuck. My Martin was born in October 1802 and died in April 1874. He is buried out in Argusville, NY. You would think if My Martin is your Martin, his first boy or at least his second would be named after his father "Isaac". But there is no Issac with My Martin's children. Not even a middle name. So therefore, I am stuck. I don't want to completely rule OUT the fact they could be one of the same with dates just not adding up. I have Martin's will, but that of course does not state his parents names. Do you have Isaac's will that perhaps can lead us to believe it is the same person? Other than that, I am thinking I have to go to Herkimer County, NY to see if I can piece something together there.

By the way, your site is great!

I have connections with this particular line as well. Martin's son James Lansing is my fathers great-great grandfather. He had a son John Henry (my fathers Grandfather), who had a son named Everett that eventually moved down to Florida and passed away down there. Could this be your Everett that you speak of? If so, I have some information on him.

Catherine (daughter of James Lansing) I am sure I have more information on her in a file that I haven't printed out. (this is at first glance) But, this is what I have in her 'story'. She married George Burns and had committed suicide in October 1932 by hanging herself. She is buried in the Ferndale Cemetery next to her parents. I should go back up there and get a digital image of their stones. I have actual pictures of their headstones and scanning them is a pain.

Eva (daughter of James Lansing)was born on February 4, 1871. Eva married George Barr and passed away at age 32 in 1903. She had cancer that she had suffered for 5 years prior to her death. She is also buried at the Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown next to her parents and sister. This was in the Johnstown Daily Republican on February 16, 1903. She lived with her father at the time at 306 Wells Street in Johnstown.

Alta (daughter of James Lansing) was born March 15, 1877. She was the last of the children.

John Henry(son of James Lansing, and my great grandfather) was born in Montgomery County in 1861. He married FIRST to Margaret Bowdish who was born in 1863. Margaret died in 1887, which leads me to believe this was John's first wife. She was only 24 at the time of her death. Per the records I am finding on the internet, several are saying that Margaret married a "Link" in 1882. However, if Margaret married him, it would have been a short lived marriage as Margaret and John Henry had one child together Everett who was born on November 25, 1885. Everett spent a lot of his life with his maternal grandparents. I included all this with the "Bowdish" side of my family tree. In 1887 John sold land in Root to Mary W. Bowdish for $250. At the time he was living in Johnstown. This could have very well been a plot of land that he and Margaret shared with her people. He then married Roba Kilmartin and had the following children: Henry John (My grandfather), Evaline, Lydia, and James. John Henry passed away in 1899. I have his death record and the obituary.

It sounds like you are a LOT like me. I love to put a story with the people I research, not just birth, death, and marriage. I have one picture of James Lansing's son John's son's Henry and James.

Here is what I have, I don't have much time to write right now, but I will give you some of the low down.

James and Harriet had:

Delmar, Millard, John, Catherine, Eva, and Alta. JOHN is MY great-grandfather.

Delmar born in Charleston Four Cornerson August 8, 1859. He married Delida, and had two daughters. Per his obit, it says: Mrs. George (Elsie) Pedrick, and Mrs. Frank Scribner who at the time of Delmar's death was living in Yonkers, NY. He had two grandaughters Carolyn (Born January 1910), and Francis Pedrick. Elsie was living with her parents, husband, and daughter on Glenwood Ave. in Johnstown per the 1910 Census Records. Delmar live in Johnstown since he was 22 years old. Delmar passed away on March 10. 1932 at age 72 years old. He died of a heart attack. His last known address was 9 Glenwood Avenue in Johnstown. He is buried in the Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown, NY. He was a carpenter by trade and belonged to the Carpenters Union.

Millard was born on December 1, 1855 in Charleston, NY. He married Libbe Crockers who was born on November 26, 1864 in Sharon Hill. they married on August 31, 1887. His daughter was born in 1896 per the 1910 census records. They were living on switzer Hill Rd. in Fonda at the time. Inez married Harold Bently. He passed away at the Nathan Littauer Hospital on March 4, 1923 at 4:30pm. he was a patient of the hospital for 20 days before he passed away from complications with a suergery he had. His last job held was a caretaker for the Fulton County fair Grounds. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife and one daughter Inez Christman and two grandsons, Harry and Harold Christman, one sister Mrs. George Burns, and a brother Delmar. Libbie, who's real name was Mary Elizabeth died on may 11, 1942. she lived at 2 Matthew Street in Gloversville at the time. She was the daguhter of Charles and Hannah Tillapaugh Crocker.

**I recently went up to that cemetery and have the picture of their headstone. Not sure if you would like that or not.

I am not sure how much this little box can handle at one time. I will write more on the other children of James Lansing next message.

Help with a Martha "Patsy" Christman

I just recently got back a marriage license from Wabash County, Indiana for My great great grand mother Martha Emmaline King, who lists Patsy Christman as her mothers maiden name. By Census records she was in Montgomery Co, Ohio and going by Martha as her first name and she was married to Joseph King possibly in Ohio. Later Joseph and Martha moved to Huntington County, Indiana where she more than likely died between 1870 to 1879. I am hoping anyone who might have info on a Martha Patsy Christman or maybe Patsy Martha Christman. last name could be spelled differently but that is the spelling off the ML copy

Thanks!

Fannie Christman, born 1870, dau of John/Elizabeth, of Linn Co., IA

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Fannie Christman – High School Class 1888”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Marion (Linn Co.) IA, and she looks about age 18.

I found Fannie L. Christman, age 10, in the 1880 census for Springville (Linn Co.) IA. She was daughter of John Christman (55), and Elizabeth (49), and she had three brothers and three sisters. There was no Fannie Christman in 1900 so I looked for all the “Fannie L.” married women in the 1900 census, in Linn Co., IA, but she could have been one of many.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Fannie L.
The first Florence is not too likely, as my Florence's maiden name was Christman.

I haven't found a name for Florence's mother. It could be that she died while Florence was very young. Do you have a date of death for Lucy?

I have a Florence Christman I am trying to put a face to. She was the second wife of Charles Christman. They were from the Philadelphia area but my Christmans moved back and forth between Philly and Monroe county several times. I also have a Florence SMith, daughter of Lucy Christman. Could you florence be either one of these?

The Isaac Christman I have found is listed as Isaac Stadler married to a Carrie Doll Christman Stadler. Looks like we have a remarriage and some error on the census. Isaac is raising the Christman children on the census. My grandmother, Isaac's step-daughter?, never mentioned this to me. The information I have is listed on my "Varkony-Cook tree"....

Stanley Ebert

I have other Christman and Smith's in the family but these are the two Florence's I spoke of. I understand quite a few women in this part of the family were nurses and Margaret Smith joined Wacs for sure. Can't directly link Florence to Army yet.

Unfortunately my Christman info is very short. I believe Charles 1 died in the flu outbreak in Philly in 1918. I believe on of his boys, Charles 2, died in prison on a theft charge.

Check out my "Varkony-Cook" tree, where I have more Christmans.
