I'm still asking questions abt my Bridgewater family. Yes, the link is big.... My Christophe/Aguillard GG Grandmother married a Gremillion. I am hopeful that I will make a breakthrough soon. Keep me posted on your progress and I will let you know what I find out. :-)

What a small world. No, my Lees are from Texas. My mother, Elma Bridgewater is the daughter of Joseph "George" Bridgewater. HIs mother was Mary (Marie) Christophe. She had children with two men (that I know of). FIrst was Moses Bridgewater (George's father). Then was Harry Celestin. George's mother's mother (Clara Gremillion Mayer (Myer) was the daughter of Theophile Gremillion and Henrietta Belizaire(according to her death certificate but I am still looking for them). All of these people are from Pointe Coupee. Supposedly there is a huge Gremillion/Christophe/Bridgewater link.

This is addicting---LOL!

I am related to the Bridgewater's also. How funny is this.... I kind of know you! LOL, Mike told me to contact you a while back.Our Great Great Grandfathers(Gaines) were brothers and we've been on a journey to find out the names of their Grandparents. My last name is Lee also and he thought we may have been related. Lee, Gremillion, Christophe and Bridgewater. WOW My Paternal side of the family are still in Pointe Coupee. I'll make a few phone calls tomorrow to find out the Bridgewater link. Are your Lee's from Louisiana also?

Hmm...I haven't found any of those names in my tree so far. I just got to that point where I identified the Gremillion and Christophe connection. But I will keep looking for you. By any chance have you run across any Bridgewaters from Pointe Coupee Louisiana?

Christophes and Gremillions in Pointe Coupee

I am the great great granddaughter of Marie Christophe (b: about 1870) in Louisiana. Her mother was Clara Gremillion (Mayer) and her father is listed as Juinpier Christophe. Clara's father is listed as Theophile Gremillion. This is according to the LDS family search website.

I am interested in getting information about Marie Christophe and any of her relatives. I know that she married a bridgewater (I believe Mose or Moses) and they had George Bridgewater. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. All of this occurred in Pointe Coupee. Nicki

my GGGrandfather Paul, and the siblings that you have.
Please email me directly, on how I can receive it. I have
put some of the pieces together. I need to find out
Paulin's father who I think is the link to Henri Christophe.
I look forward to hearing from you on my direct email.
I really only hear my mother speak of Aunt Eva, and
Aunt Marie she was born later in 1894. I met Aunt Eva's
GGranddaughter years ago on a visit to NO. Paul died
in 1943 I believe and Aunt Marie died in 1966. Aunt Eva
I really do no know when she died. My Mom speaks of
her Grandfather Paul fondly. Hope, to hear from you soon.

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I think we probably share a common ancestor in Paulin Christophe. I have not seen the 1880 Census, but I did see somewhere on the Internet where their ages were listed as being from the 1880 Census. They were: Thomas age 25, Raymond 22, Joseph 14, Jeanne 12, Alphonsine 7, Eva 3 and Paul 2. Paulin's age was listed as 50 and Victorine's as 33. That makes Victorine only eight years older than her son Thomas, and 11 years older than Raymond. My grandfather was Thomas and on the marriage certificate of Thomas and Josephine, Thomas' parents are listed as: Paulin Christophe and Victorine Jean Baptiste. Maybe Victorine was the step-mother of Thomas and Raymond. I'll have to see Thomas' and Raymond's birth records in order to know who their mother really was. So far, I haven't a clue. I never did know much about my father's folks beyond my grandfather Thomas. Thomas was 23 years older than Paul according to that Census entry. I have Paul's and Alphonsine's birth entries and Raymond's marriage entry from the Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Records. I will be happy to send them to you if you don't already have them. I'm always seeking new info on the Christophe family. Let me know if you want those dates that I mentioned. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

I have checked the 1880 Census
Eva Christophe's Name shows as 0 age,
who was Paul's Sister, and Marie
Was not born until Later in 1894
I think Victorine Jean Baptiste and
Paulin Christophe Match my Ancestry. The
other children are Raymond, Thomas, Alphonsine,
and Joseph. Do you have further Info. It would greatly
be appreciated. It means your GGrandfather and my
GGrand were brother and sister.

Yes, I am a decendant of Henri Christophe. My G-Grandfather
came from New Roads, Louisiana. Is your family from that
area as well? Christophe's from that area are said to be his
decendants. After the slave revolt many come to Louisiana.
Family members and others who by word of mouth have
been told this - have been told of a illigitamate son who
escaped and came to Louisiana. Who What is your family
name?
