Dogney Christopherson ws kin to me somehow. They lived in Coolidge as did my grandparents. (Christian and elisa Johanson. My grandmother was a Jenson. They all came from Norway we are trying to search and have had no luck Maybe you can help me. I am sure there is a connection there some how. Please reply.

Daniel lived in the Erie area all of his life. He was a computer programmer for various companies until his retirement. Daniel is survived by one daughter, Mary Aurand (Patrick) of Erie; two sons, Robert LeRoy Christopherson of Erie and Michael L. Christopherson (Tammy) of Millcreek Township; six grandchildren and three great-grandsons. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Monday from 12 noon until the time of the Funeral Service there at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. My grandmother was Hilda Christopherson Schons. I met her brother-- your grandfather Melvin-- a few times, and also knew their sister Emma.
I've done a fair amount of research on the Olaus and Martha Christopherson family, and would be happy to share it with you.
One error in your post: the sibling you identify as Alina was named Alma.

Geraldine L. "Geri" Marsh, 73, of Decorah, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa.
Geraldine Brokken was born Sept. 9, 1927, in LaCrosse, Wis., to John and Hilda (Christopherson) Brokken. She was a graduate of Harmony High School, class of 1945, and of Stephens College in Columbia, Miss. She was baptized in November of 1927 and confirmed in May of 1941, at the Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony.
She and Denton Marsh were married June 25, 1949, in Decorah, where they lived all their married life.
Mrs. Marsh worked in the Selective Service System from 1960 to 1972, and in the Social Security Office in Decorah from 1974 to 1988. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, as well as a member of the Elks Club and the Oneota Golf and Country Club.
She is survived by her husband of over 51 years and her children and grandchildren; Crisan Singer and Jennifer Gaster of Decorah; Debra and Mark McDougall, Rusty and Morgan McDougall of Melbourne, Australia; Holly and Arnold Larson, Matt and Emily Larson of Decorah; and Todd and Michelle Marsh of Mundelein, Ill.; her brother, Jack Brokken of Rochester and by her close friend and first cousin, Christine and Bill Simeral of Wheaton, Ill.
The funeral was Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah with the Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be at Phelps Cemetery at a later date.
Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah was in charge of arrangements.

My grandfather Melvin's parent were Louis & Anna. His Sibs were Julia, Lucy, Alina, Hilda, Adela, Annie, Olga & Emma. There was a 10th child born to Louis & Anna that died, of which I have no information.

Thomas b 1811/12 married Miriam b 1821/22 in june 1859.
I have Thomas parents as Robert b 1761 and his second wife Agnes Kendall or Kirby.Two other children were Robert b 1806 d 1807 and Margaret b 1808.

Thomas is my ancestor. He married Miriam Crosthwaite in Lancashire. My relatives are sure that the Christopherson lineage led back to Denamark/ Norway but this is as far back as I can get. Is anyone able to help?

Another oddity is that my relatives also talk of this line being related to the late Lord Birkett....?

This is a tough one for me.
So here are the facts if anyone can help me out.
This man was born in Demark, don't know where or when.

His children were scattered from home after his death in 1860 because their step-dad didn't like them after thier mother re-married.

All the children took the surname Casten.

Family records typed in 1963 say he served in the Danish army before immigrating.

They settled in Waterford, Racine, Wisconsin.

He was killed while digging a well at the age 35 when a stone bucket hauling dirt fell on his head.(Oct1860)

He married Marie Dorothy (Mary) Larson (19Apr1829)-(22Dec1885) in Denmark, dont know where or when.

She remaried Hans Helgesen in 1861, children took the surname Hanson.

Children with Casten:
Hannah (8Apr1853)-(8Dec1934)
Christopher (9Jun1854)-(21Mar1922)
Lars (Lewis) (25Dec1855)-(3Jun1940)
George (1859-1887)
Dorothy Marie (Mary) (27Dec1860)-(6Sep1925)
All the children were listed as born in Wisconsin.

This might seems like a wealth of infomation, but my problem is I cannot find any records of these people before the children are already in thier teens.(1870 Census with Hannah living at another house as a servent) Casten does not exsist on paper as far as I can find. Any help with this would be greatly appriciated!!

Seeking contact with any descendant of Nils Christopherson (also spelled Christoffersson) who emigrated from Sweden in 1881 and settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a tailor by trade. With his wife, Amalia Christina Hallberg, he had the following children:

Fredrich, March 15, 1875 in Sweden
Ernst, August 24, 1877 in Sweden
Gustaf, February 19, 1879 in Sweden
Selma, March 20, 1881 in Sweden
Elina, January 11, 1883 in Michigan

His wife, Amalia Christina, died in 1884 and he remarried to
Augusta Anderson. From this marriage were the following children:

Florence, ca. November 1897 in Kentucky

By 1900 Nils Christopherson is found living in Toledo, Ohio with wife, Augusta, and children George, Arthur and Florence. It seems that by around 1905, Nils Christoperson was dead, but the location and date of death is unknown.

Adele, how amazing can it be that we would both have ties to the same 2 family lines (Melendy & Anderson)? Your Melendy side is thru William, the son of the first William Melendy shown in the Melendy Family book and mine is thru William's brother John.

Regarding the Anderson side, I was pleasantly surprised when Diane Resnick sent me an email and told me about our being cousins. Her great grandmother Martha Cristopherson being the sister of my great grandmother Carrie. She did tell me about how they both married an Andrew Anderson. And now I find that I have you as my new cousin thru your great grandmother, Anne, another sister of my great grandmother. It is interesting that you were born and raised in Doyon, ND because that is the only information I had for my grandfather George Anderson Sr. as it being his birth place.

I am going to be retiring in June and will be devoting much more time to getting this all entered into my Family Tree Maker database. My regular email address is janan2@aol.com. What an amazing world this is! Here I am researching my Rice family, which has links to the Melendy Family. I have previously gotten Melendy information from either you or Nancy.
Somehow I got another thread and Anderson/Christopherson names caught my eye as my G Grandfather was Ole Anderson, brother of Andrew Anderson. there was also another Andrew Anderson and he married Carrie. My G Grandmother was Anne Christofferson, sister of Carrie Chritofferson, and Martha Christofferson(married to the other Andrew Anderson).
I was born and raised in Doyon, ND and have the most of the story many generations back. Diane Resvick and I have, and continue to piece together information on this family. She lives in Wisconsin. Have you ever contacted her? Has anyone else given you the information you need?

In section 20, Mandt Township, Chippewa County, MN is Gulbranson Cemetery. Several graves were removed to Mandt Lutheran and Westberg Cemeteries. Three graves remained are: Lars Christopherson and his two children Ludvig and Julius. An 1880 census for west neighboring Big Bend Township has a Lars Christopherson, Age 84 and wife Ingebor, Age 49.

Further notes to the above inquiry;Johanna may have worked for johannes jorgenson(lahd) at walsh north dakota.Johannes farmed their for many years and is buried at Park River cemetary along with his wife martha Andersdotter (hillestad).

So I am feeling that johanna's siblings may have come to Walsh,N.Dakota as well

Well this does seem like a match!Hi Bob.I have info on johanna's grand parents if you want.I got most of this from Lars Oyane of the Luster county book series.
Johanna's father Christopher was a brother to my grt grandfather.His name was Johanes Jorgenson,of Hafslo,Sogn og fjord.I hav their parents and grand parents as well.Christopher and Johannes also had a sister,Gjertrud born;20 may 1847.AT one time they lived on a farm named Lahd,and also Marifjaeren.Anything you might like to know just ask,and I will try too accomodate.

just found the name of my maternal grandmother: Johanna Christopherson b abt 30 Dec 1869, Norway. Seems to fit the dates of your Johanna.
m. Tosten Anderson (he dropped the Kjøs) of Sogn Norway.
Lived Dundee Township , Walsh Co. ND . (1900, 1910, 1920 census)
TOSTEN ANDERSON FAMILY
Tosten Anderson was born in Valers, Norway, in 1860, and came to the U.S. as a young boy with his family. In 1882 he filed homestead in Dundee Township where he farmed until his death in 1939.
Johanna Christopherson was born in Sogn, Norway, in 1870. At 16, she immigrated to the United States. She spent several years working for an uncle who had paid her fare. Johanna died in 1949 after being confined to a wheelchair for many years. She was an inspiration to those who knew her because of her courageous acceptance of her affliction.
On March 31, 1893, Tosten and Johanna were married. They had a family of six sons and two daughters-Elmer, Julia, Bennie, Melford, Clarence (died in childhood), Clara, Henry and Theodore. They were active members of the Park Center Lutheran Church where Johanna was a charter member of the Ladies' Aid. Submitted by Francis Letness.

I am looking for the mother of Mabel Victoria Christopherson b.1913 in Swansea, who married a Richard WILKINSON. Her father was Herbert Alfred Christopherson and has died. They lived in the Fleetwood area of Lancashire. I believe her mother was a KELLY.

Helmer was my grandfather. My fathewr was Adolph. We lived with Helmer on the farm in Coolidge until I was about 8 and moved to a place of our own and form there to Dallas. All were 17 years of age except Christi who was 20 at time of departure.

No I'm not related in any way.
Abraham would be a fairly uncommon given name for a Norwegian boy. In Norway he would be listed in most records before 1900 by his patronymic name - therefore some variation of Mikkelsen/Michelsen/etc.
Using online Norwegian database websites, the absolutely VITAL birth year you provided (+ or - a year or so) and search engine wildcards for likely spelling variations to be expected - it just took a few minutes to locate the family. (basically just lots of personal practice)

Having the parish/district location in Norway nailed down - you can research in the records which should help get you generations earlier. Study advice on how to proceed, apply new knowledge, study more, apply new knowledge. It's a never ending hobby. Good luck.

1865 Norwegian census shows him living in Lier, Buskerud, Norway on a farm called 'Hvalseng'. The census lists his and his parents birthplaces as Christiansund (Kristiansund, Møre og Romsdal, Norway).

Abraham and his family emigrated from Norway on or about 10 June 1871, sailing from the port of Oslo/Kristiania and stating intention to go to Chicago.

Henning Abraham went by Abraham. I have found him on Swift County, Minnesota census reports for the years 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930. I am searching for descendants and also ancestors. I do have some info that his father was Michael Christian and mother Serianne Skarpol. Abraham was married 2 times: first to Hustrin Signe Neilsen Aamont where he had 4 children - Christopher Michael, Anna Marie, Lena Bergeta and Nels Christian (who went by Christian). and his second wife was Olaphine Gertrude Solomonson and children: Alfred, Henry, John, Clara, Sophia, Johannah, Chester, Edward, Gladys, Walter and Francis.
