Stanley Chrostowski WWII Army Airborne

Hi. I am looking for him or his family. (He would have been born probably between 1905 and 1926)

He was in the Army Airborne during WW2. He was in the 17th Airborne Division/139th Engineer Battalion at one time in his military career and possibly transferred to the 101st or the 82nd Airborne when the 17th was disbanded in 1945. He would have been in the Engineer Battalion, HQ & S or medical.

I am in the process of writing a book about the Battalion and would like to have him contact me. If he is no longer with us, I'd like the family to touch base with me to give me a summary of his life since the service. This also will be in the book.

I have also succeeded in getting these WW2 Heros to touch base again with their comrades after not seeing each other for almost 60 years. Their reunions have been wonderful.

This project is so important because 17 million personnel files were destroyed in the 1973 file in St. Louis MO. I want to make sure that these men will never be forgotten and will be put in the history books for generations to come!

My grandmother's name was Anna Chrostowski. She married Joseph Roszkowski in Westville in 1906, and the family lived in Westville until about 1912. They then moved to Royalton, IL.

Anna was born in Klimuszunic, Poland in 1888. She came to the United States as an eleven year old with her nine year old sister Alice. Anna and Alice made this trip alone to meet their Mother and Father in Chicago, Illinois, on October 29, 1906. Her parents were Frank Chrostowski, born in 1861 in Biolostok, Poland and Mary Ann Trieskey (or Trieskowski) born in 1866 in Lomza, Poland.

Frank and Mary Ann had the following children:
Phylis, Stella, Anna (Roszkowski), Alice (Mielke), Mary Ann (Missavage), Jennie (Schoblowski), Henry, Lottie (McLean), and Joseph. (Phylis, Stella, and Joseph all died in infancy).

I also know a Gene Chrostoski. We have never research to see if we are related, but I always though he looked like my grandmother. He lives in Kansas City now, but I believe he was originally from Milwaukee.

Could my grandmother Anna Chrostowski be the one you are looking for? She was born in Klimuszunic, Poland in 1888 to Frank Chrostowski and Mary Ann Triesky (or Trieskowski). She was married in Westville, IL to Joseph Roszkowski. She had several brothers and sisters: Phylis, Stella, Alice (Mielke), Mary Ann (Missavage), Jennie (Schoblowski), Henry, Lottie (McLean), and Joseph. The Roszkowskis (my family) and Missavages lived in Royalton, IL, but I think only one cousin still lives there.

My grandmother's maiden name was Chrostowski. I'm afraid I don't know anything about Anna Usolis.

My ancestor Jan (John) Chrustowski emmigrated to USA about 1910 at age 27 from Poland. He was born in a village Dziegielewo in 1883. His mothers name was Marianna Zawadzka and his fathers name was (probably) Jan Chrustowski too. In 1908 he married Wladyslawa Adamska in Dziebakowo (30 km from Plock). She was 4 years older. Two years befor the marriage in 1906 was born their son Josef. After the departure his wife and his son had a short contact to him (he send letters only 2 or 3 times). Noboby in our familly never heard what happend with Jan Chrustowski. Maybe he died in a short time or had a new familly? Does somebody in USA know his story?

First I would like to thank you for your reply and given information. Second, most of the names you referred to sound familiar from my own research, so I believe there is a possible connection. I'm still very uneducated about that side of the family, but little by little I'm progressing. Was your grandmother's maiden name (Anna) Usolis (spelling?) by chance?

My father's name was Frank, my grandfather's name was Stanislaw. He came to the U.S.A. in the early 1900's. He had a brother who lived in Albany, New York. My father said he never saw his uncle and can not recall what his name was. We have not been able to find the exact year they emigrated to the USA.

I'm very excited about the research I have done so far! I talked to my grandmother who talked to some other relatives and we came up with some interesting links that match up to the information you have posted. First of all, is your wife's name Jackie and do the names Ruth Shrout and Alex Chrostowski or Pauline Cheaver sound familiar? If everything falls into place the way my grandmother told me, you and I are somehow 3rd cousins. Next, you spoke of your uncle, John Jr. and his wife Anna Usalis. They were my father's grandparents. Which would make the afore mentioned John III my grandfather that died in the early to mid 1990's. I also know that John Jr.'s father (John, Sr.) married a lady named Alexandria (spelling?) and they were both from Poland. We are still working on other links, but I thought I would share what we found so far. And thank you again for the information you were able to provide!

I had a uncle named John Jr, but he died in 1969, although he had a son named John the 3rd.He lived in Westville,ILL He married Becky Howard,Tey had 3 children ,1 son & 2 dayghters, the sons name is Jeffery. My grandmother, Carol (McArdle)Chrostwski, was married to a John Chrostowski, but he didn't die until the early to mid-90's. So unless he was a John, Jr. I don't think they are the same. My name is Sarah Chrostowski and I'm doing a genealogy project regarding my Chrostowski ancestors. Bill - funny but my Dad's name was Bill. My Grandfather, /Stanislaw and grandmother, Antionette Bialkowski. My cousins have also been on this site looking for my gandfather's brother who supposedly moved to NY state somewhere. We never ever saw him. My grandparents ended up near Scanton PA then moved to Harrison, NJ

I don't think our name is very common so perhaps is we all get together at one place, we could figure it all out. Obviously I am all for a reunion for any and all Chrostowski

Michalyna C Chrostowska married Paul Marion
Hodkowski 1918 Vancouver Canada This was my grandmother. There is also a Henry Chrostowski who died in 1911 Vancouver.
Jan Chrostowski married Wisniewska 1921 Can. Paul Marion Hodkowski died in 1919 and Michalyna married Waclaw Markowski and returned to Plock Poland. Can you provide any more information? Thankyou Wanda
