I just found out through the diocese of Pittsburgh that the dead end I had encountered in searching for my Miller family relatives is because their name was Ciesielski. My great-great grandfather was Leon Ciesielski of Pittsburgh. Census records say they were from Prussia. Could there be any relation?

I have no idea if your family is related to mine. The only information I have on Vincent is his father's name was Frank. He came from the Posen area which is quite large. I have no information on siblings or mother. I wish I had more info. I know he immigraded from Germany in 1889 setling in Chicago, Illinois. His wife & sons followed in April 1890.

I am researching my great grandfather Franz Ciesielski, born and baptized 27 Sep 1866 in Zolondowo, died 16 Apr 1934 in Wowelno (Lindenwald). His parents were Martin Ciesielski and Marianna Schultz. His second marriage (civil registration) was to the widow Maria Falk Vogt on 12 Nov 1906 in Mrotschen. They had, as far as I know, two or three children, but I don't know even their names.

If there is someone who knows something about this family, I would like to get in touch with him / her.

Ciesielski's Russia-Philadelphia

I am trying very hard to find information on the parents of my John Ciesielski. He is listed on the 1910 census as having previously lived in Russia, arriving in the US in 1904. His birthdate is about 1884. His wife was Helen, she was born in PA, their son is on the census, Egnaz, or Ignatius. He was the eldest of 5 or 6 children, from what I understand. As far as I know, they lived in Philadelphia until their passing.
This is a very difficult search for me, if anyone has any connection to this line, or any information about relatives in Russia or Poland, I would be very grateful!

Frank, looking at the www.pgsa.org databases (they have one for Polish marriages in Chicago through 1915), I did find the following candidates for you (I did the query based on the last name of Ciesielski):

First I found this entry on page 1 (of 4):

Albert Ciesielski m Marcyanna Banasinski in 1886 (St Stanislaus Kostka Church)

and then there was one, which looks like a better recording of the prior one:

Albert Ciesielski m Marcianna Banaszak on 10/19/1886 at Immaculate Conception Church

They do have a Microfilm number that you can use to order through the Church of the Later Day Saints.

Hope this helps and best wishes!!!

Jacob Ciesielski

Is Jacob related to the many other Ciesielskis on this site? Also I am looking for information about a land purchase by Jacob Ciesielski in 1883 of 40 acres in Washington County Illinois. Jacob Ciesielski was my great great grandfather. He, his wife Marianne and their infant daughter (Mary Ann) immigrated in 1872 per the ship's manifest. I have reason to believe they then lived in Dunkirk NY for a while. My great grandmother Pearl Ciesielski was born to them in Erie Co. NY on Aug 17, 1885. I cannot find them in a census prior to 1920. In the 1920 census Pearl is married to Alex Shulfer and living in Grant, Protage Co., WI. Jacob and Mary, Lawrence and Agnes, and Edward and Sophia lived in Buena Vista Township, WI.
Did Jacob buy land in IL?
Any information on this Ciesielski line would be greatly appreciated.
Would like to obtain a copy of Pearl's birth certificate if any one can assist.
Any info on parents of Jacob and/or Marianne would be appreciated. I believe Marianne's maiden name to be Graczykowski although Pearl's marriage certificate lists Marianne's last name as Grotcholski and her death certificate lists it as Greskie. Could be a phonetic spellings.

The "a" ending is simple the feminine ending for Ciesielski. It is because of the Polish language, not because a woman is married or unmarried.
My friend, Bogdan Kwasiborski, told me that before his sister was married her last name was spelled Kwasiborska. His sister-in-law, married to his brother, is also Kwasiborska.

CIESIELSKI / WALIGORSKI 1888 - 1949 OHIO & MINNESOTA

Hello from Alaska...

I am searching for information about my g-grandmother's Ciesielski
family. She was born in Poland in May 1859; I believe her parents
were Valentine and Josephine Ciesielski. Her name was Antonia, one of
10 children all female except for one, Michael.

Antonia married Joseph Waligorski in Poland in November 1884; they
emigrated to the US in 1888 initially to Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1893,
the family moved to North Prairie, Minnesota; then in the early 1900s,
they moved to the Royalton, Minnesota area where they remained.

Antonia and Joseph Waligorski both died in Royalton, Morrison County, Minnesota in October 1949.

I have no knowledge of any of Antonia's Ciesielski relatives
emigrating to the US. Nor do I know specifically where in Poland she was born.

Can you help...?

Joe Leahy
Auke Bay, Alaska
