I am looking to make contact with any descendants of Domenico Ciucci, and to learn more about his origins. Domenico Ciucci was born in Italy in about 1826. He married Mary Chevalley who was born in New York (in 1830s) of French born parents. The Ciuccis are in the 1860 Albany census with their NY born children, John (6), (Mary) Louise (4), and Margaret (2). In 1880 Albany Census they appear again with their children and their children's spouses, Kate Phillips, James Phillips and John A. Burns, respectively. I have noticed only a few Italians in Albany in 1860. Were reasons for immigration of these early Italian immigrants different, in general, than reasons for Italian immigrants who came later?
