Hi,

I am looking for anyone who would have some information about Seaf Clairmont, Married to Anna Bleau. Seaf was born in Vermont in 1865, possibly in Brattleboro. I cannot seem to find any information about his parents, who were from Canada. Seaf married Anna Bleau in the late 1800's and they lived and died in Amsterdam, NY. They had several Children: Aurelia, Lillian, Anna, Albert (my grandfather), Henry and Arthur. Seaf and Anna are buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY. Any info on Who Seaf's parents were would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Clairmont,
I just read your letter and thought I'd respond. I didn't know about the reunion you spoke about 2007. I had heard anout some reunion in the states, but it was going to be the last one, and I couldn't make it. I do hope your health is with you. I am a descendant of Francois who was the father of Baptiste, who was the father of David, who was the fater of Joseph, who was the father of Angeline who was my mother. I have tried to keep record of the children from these precious families, but it keeps one pretty busy and then I get a lot of "It's none of your business!" Poor relations, they don't realize they are my business because they are my family! Are you aware of the Morigeau Reunion being held up in Invermere July 30th and August 1st? Hope to meet you there! How much does your shorter version cost?

Hi Michele!
I was so excited to see your message on RootsWeb. I am related to you through my Mom. She was Claire Lefebvre and her Mom was Eliza Clairmont, sister to Neal and Dominic. I actually knew your Great-Uncles, Ernest (who was married to Anna) and Leopaul (who was married to Ethel). My Mom was, at one time, close to your GrandMother Virginia and her sisters Antoinette and Adeline. I sort of knew of them, but am not sure I have ever met them. When I was little we use to visit Uncle Neal and Aunt Minnie and we may have visited Uncle Dominic--not sure. I may have when I was very young. Anyhow, I would be very interested in sharing any knowledge I may have that you could use and would be interested in sharing anything you have.

You can reach me at home at taximom@nycap.rr.com or you can send a message back to me on Rootsweb. Thank you. Claire Wilson--a Decendant of the Clairmont, NY Family

Hi. Louis Vincent Rinfrets' parents were Louis Rinfret(alias) and Odile (Vieau). I descend from this line also. I am told Rinfret was an alias and have the original(Iroquois)surname, but it is hand written and hard to read. Louis had two sisters Roseana and Malvina. Roseana would be my great grandmother. Malvina did some extensive research on the family ancestory. I have not been able to find any of this research other than what my grandfather gave me (some of her notes). I would love any other information you might have.

Re: Clairmont family

The only information I've been able to find in Quebec is on the 1851 census. There is an Edouard Clermont, age 6, living in Louiseville (approx 15-20 miles west of Trois-Rivieres). On the 1851 census he is living in the household of Leandre Lamothe (sic, more properly Motard-Lamothe) and Stephanie Desauniers (sic, more properly Lesieur-Desaulniers).

Leandre and Stephanie never had any children of their own. I don't know why Edouard is living with them in 1851. Possible reasons:

1) He was an orphan
2) He was illegitimate
3) His birth family had too many mouths to feed and sent him to live with a family that had no children of their own to feed.

Clermont is a "dit" name. The Clermonts of Louiseville original name was Dubord.

I don't have a lot of info on Louiseville events. Louiseville is also known as Riviere-du-Loup (not to be confused with the Riviere-du-Loup two hundred miles downstream).

Lisa,
Last summer, the 1,229 pages sold for $150.00, and I am adding new information as I am recorrecting some information for clarity in the history. The histories do not have pictures, BUT I have made notations in the source narrative if a photo accompanied an obituary or biography in a book, etc. But I need to find out how many pages have been added since last July, as their have been some good information about the Morigeau family of Canada on the internet. And since Ancestry.com has been accessible at the Polson Family Library of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or can be access at any other library, I have been able to find missing information.
If I am correct, part of the Clairmont family was part of my Washakie family history. So if you are connected to the Clairmonts, there is some information of them, that may not be part of my Morigeau history. Both Wade Thomson, who also has the Morigeau history extended back to France, and I were both presenter of Family History at the reunion. I wore a huge Tribal Reservation hat, which is beaded around the rim, and the hat was black. Our tables were next to where the food was served.Gene

Hi Lisa,
I was at the Morigeau Reunion last July 2006. I had a seven volume history of all the descendants of Francois dit Morigeau Forgues for the reunion. I had a shorter version, which was only the descendants of Alexander and Rosalie Finley Morigeau. The larger version was about 1,229 pages in length. And I was able to sell about seven sets. Some of those at the reunion had asked me why their names were not included. Its because I could find no stories or articles or relatives who would provide the information. For instance, a large portion of the SLOAN family was not there; but I have received about 30 pages of new information to include with the history. And I've been merging new information into the history, so its much bigger. And those who provided new information want to obtain an updated version. So I am working hard to get that done now. I believe there was over 5,000 descendants. I was given corrections about Mary Elizabeth Morigeau from the reunion. That helped. And if you are connectted to Jacques Raphael "Jocko" Finley; then that history is huge, some 4,000 pages which my cousin, David Charles "Chalky" Courchane has done, and which I have assisted with some of the information. Sincerely, Gene, Native American Family Historian and Genealogist of the Confederated Salish, Kootenai, Spokane, and Pend d'Oreille Tribe of the Flathead Nation.

Hi there, I just stumbled on this message board and I am so interested in more information regarding Rosalie Finley Morigeau. She is listed on my great grandmother's marriage certificate as her mother, but I am not sure that is true. I suspect that she was actually her grandmother, but raised her as her daughter. My great grandmother's name is Mary Elizabeth Morgeau and after she married she took the name Marie Simmons. I attended the Morigeau family reunion in Montana last year and saw some amazing photos of Rosalie. I was given a beautiful beaded bag that was given to my great grandmother for her wedding. I saw an amazing shot of Rosalie with gorgeous beaded bags and dress and I believe Rosalie was the maker of my bag. Any information you could provide me would be amazing! I would pay for any copies of pictures, documents or postage if you would be willing to share.

Thank you so much,
Lisa Hall
Olympia, WA

Am looking for descendants of Louis Clairmont and Celanise Nadeau. They were married June 27, 1864 in Quebec, Canada. Celanies is sometimes spelled Selanise or Felanise. Both were born in Canada and I believe they had 8 children together. Would love to hear from any of the descendants of this couple. Maybe we could compare family notes.

Louis died 1904 in Ronan, MT. Rosalie died in 1908 in St. Ignatius, MT and Mary Louise died in Tacoma Washington State in 1959/60.
Rick

I don't have any further info on Marie Clermont. I never heard of her before. I will ask my mother about it. I do woner where she fits into the Clermont line. Could she have been the sister of Narcisse and Theophile?

IT is confusing when they name their children the same over and over.

So we must be related somehow as we share some ancestors. I have cousins who are Rousseaus too!

My aunt Muriel Clermont (mother's sister) married William Rousseau in Lowell around 1955.

Thanks so much for the obituary on Theophile Laferriere. This looks like the son of Norbert jr and his first wife which I had shown as Angelina ??. It makes sense since they were married in 1888, and gave birth to Theophile in 1889. I have a Lowell City Directory for 1889 that shows Norbert sr living in Lowell , but Norbert jr was listed as "removed to Canada". There is also a Theophile living with Norbert sr, but that is probably his son (Norbert jrs brother). It is so confusing sometimes when everyone seems to have the same first name....
The Norbert Laferriere mentioned in the obituary as the son of Theophile is the father of a Jennifer Laferriere who has published in this forum. I will follow up with her as she should know the 2 surviving daughters mentioned in the obituary as they would be her aunts...
Thanks again for your help, do you have any further ancestor/ descendent info on Marie (Clermont) Laferriere ?

Thanks again...

There are actually at least 3 Norbert Laferriere's

Norbert Laferriere b 1835 married to Julie Jubinville b. 1840
They are in the 1880 census in Cohoes NY with 8 children. This is the Julie I believe may be the sister of Victoria Jubinville. (These are my gg-grandparents)

Norbert Laferriere (son of Norbert and Julie) b. 1/25/1866 St Jean de Matha d. 11/28/1922 m. Angelina ?? abt 1888 had 1 child Theophile b. 5/1/1889 d. 1/1963 Norbert then married Marie Lambert b. abt 1877 m. 10/18/1902 in Lowell.

Theophile, child of Norbert jr and Angelina also had a son named Norbert Laferriere b 9/1937 in the Newport RI area.

Evidently, there must be a 4th Norbert Laferriere that married Marie Clermont.

I'll keep looking, thanks for your help....

Norbert Laferriere was married to a Marie Clermont.

I believe that Marie Clermont might have been the sister of Narcisse and Theophile Clermont. I do not believe that Julie Jubinville was the name of Norbert's wife although Julie may have been Victoria's sister but I haven't heard of her.

The Clermonts were in Cohoes in the 1860s/1870s as Evelina Clermont was born there in 1878. She was the daughter of Narcisse Clermont and Victoria Jubinville.

I seen your old posting and thought I would give this a try.
We are just starting to research my husbands family the Clairmonts.
David Clairmont born July 6, 1838, in Canada (we do not know what part of Canada) He married Adelaide Guyon born April 11, 1841, in Canada. They had a daughter Ellen Rosalie Clairmont born June 15, 1876. Ellen married William Wallace Edwards who was born in Glengarry, Ontario, Canada October 22, 1858. Williams fathers name was Samuel, we do not know what his mothers name was. We were told she was Indian (Blackfoot).
Ellen and William farmed in Cavalier County, North Dakota then move their family to Anoka County, Minnesota. According to the 1920 US census, Langdon, Cavalier, North Dakota David and Adelaide lived with their daughter Flora and son-inlaw Fred Bukowski (not sure of the last name) . David and Adelaide also had a daughter Alvina who married Francis Richards and a daughter Eva who married Unknown Schroeder.

We have a picture of David and Adelaide. The above information is all we have on the Clairmont family. If this macthes your family please let me know.

Thanks for your time
Laurie

George, Beatrice, Alice, Samuel, Mary, Agustine Theodore, Leonard Cote. They had more but they died. I search for my heritage beyond the grandparents. I search for my Great Grand parents, Cote's or Clermont. Do these names sound familiar to anyon? My grandparents died in the 40's and 50's in Holyoke, Massachusetts. I am the daughter of Geroge Cote, born in 1901.

I would appreciate any info I can get. The main body of the search is to find Native heritage.

Thank you Marie K Cote Sherhart

Louis Clairmont

I am looking for any information on Louis Clairmont who married Eleanora (nee unkown) in New york about 1840. One of their children was born in New York, Stephen A., and the other Mary Ella, Francis Alonzo, and William M. were born in Missouri. Louis died after 1855 and Eleanora has listed herself in the 1860 Census as "Eleanora Claymore widow of Louis". The name Claymore maybe derived from the French pronunciation of Clairmont. Both Louis and Eleanora were born about mid 1820s. His children state Louis was born in Switzerland and Eleanora was born in New York.
