Michael, bc1768 was a son of Michael & Judith, he m. Rebecca Peters 1st.,2nd m. Nancy Comer.
The Michael who m. Mary Ligon is a son of Benjamin Harwood Clardy and Lucy Harrison, and this Michael is a good 20 years older than the other. No one at this point knows if the 2 men were related.
Michael & Nancy had a son John who d. in Green Co IL.
You can only guess why he had no son named Michael, my 1st thought is there were too many Michaels already!...he hated his Dad?....naming patterns were no longer strickly adhered to by this time so your guess is as good as mine. No rec. of an infant named Michael dying but who knows...

good luck
I have too much information on the Michael Clardys and I am hoping someone can help me out

When & which Michael Clardy married Nancy Comer?
When & which Michael Clardy married Rebecca Peters?
When & which Michael Clardy married Mary Ligon?

Was the John Clardy that was born in 1802 and died in Greene, IL the son of which Michael Clardy?

I know Benjamins are in this line somewhere, but if John Clardy B. 1802 d. Greene, IL) was the son of a Michael Clardy why didn't he have a son named Michael? He had a daughter named Nancy (so logically Nancy Comer is his mother, right?)

I am very lost and would love more details if anyone can help me out?

Thanks

I found a marriage record for a William Adams & Dora Clardy in July 1899, in Clay co Missouri. They also appear in Clay Co MO on the subsequent census records after their marriage. Does anyone know who Dora, or William are? (Their parents) I think William may be a son of Jesse & Alice A. Adams who were in Clay Co.

Hope someone can help me sort this out.

Thanks!

Elise, MN

I believe my g-grandmother, Mary Clardy, was a sister to your Clardy, Ella, who married a Masters. In fact, recently I got a copy of a picture from another cousin that is of Clardys and Masters. Several of the Clardys and Masters are buried in the cemetery at Mullin, Texas. I have just recently gotten this information, so have not had a chance to visit the cemetery. I live a couple of hours from there. E-mail me direct and I will try to send you copies of this picture and the info I have. yspeer@aol.com
My husband's Clardy line comes from his Grandmother(Maternal)I believe they were in SC at one time, then in Georgia. His GGrandparents on that side came to Texas in the late 1890's. Grandmother Clardy married a Masters. They lived in Sa Saba Co.,Texas for a few years, then went to Kansas and back and forth for years between Kansas and Wa. state. The Masters line were from SC and I have seen some evidence that points to his line of Clardys having come from SC before Georgia.

Hello, I am looking for anyone who might have information concerning Sarah Elizabeth Clardy she was born Aug 24 1874 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. She died July 5 1957 in Lincoln County, And was buried in New Grove Cemetery in Blanche, Tennessee. Sarah was the daughter of Daniel Clardy and Mary Jane Mullins. Sarah was my gr-grandfather's sister. Sarah married Joseph Asbury Holt and they had nine children. I was hoping to find someone who might have her family bible and have them check and see if Sarah recorded the date her brother John Lawson Clardy died and where he might be buried. Here's hoping someone can help I have look for years trying to find my gr-grandfathers death records. He had to have died been 1900 and 1908. I know it was not after 1908 because I cannot find any records and Tennessee did not keep death records until 1908. Thanks
My maternal grandmother was Mary Betty Clardy. When I go home for Christmas I will look to make sure, but I'm almost certain her father's name was Hiram, and that her mother was Lillian Williams. I may be wrong though. Mary Clardy was born in Gashland, MO and they later moved to the North KC/Platte City area. The Clardy name is well-known in Gashland and Smithville, as they helped in the establishment of that area. That's all I know about the Clardys as far as my lineage is concerned.

Michael CLARDY (abt 1680 - ?)

I am currently working on the CLARDY surname when I came across the name of:

Benjamine CLARDY I (b. Abt 1706 in Nottoway, Halifax, Virginia, USA d. Abt 1792 in Nottoway, Halifax, Virginia, USA) married to a Milicent NORMAN (not sure if that is her maiden name) in abt 1720 in Amelia, Virginia, USA.

Benjamine's father's name was stated as a Michael CLARDY (b. Abt 1680 d. Unknown) and he was married to a Nancy COMER (b. Abt 1685 d. Unknown)

Benjamine would be my husband's 6th Great Grandfather through his mother.

I have read through some posts and noticed that there was a letter written by a CLARDY stating that the forefathers claimed to be huganauts.

I am aware that there are NUMEROUS branches of the CLARDY surname. I am basically looking to find if Michael is really Benjamine's father and also if there are any descendants of the CLARDY/CLARIDY lines that currently live in the Minnesota/Iowa areas of the USA.

Thank you for your time in this matter.

Lori L Hoper
Spouse to T S Hoper (Iowa)
-- Edna M Warburton (Iowa)
--- Helen L Ebel (Iowa)
---- Martha Jane Claridy (Illinois)
----- William L Claridy (Illinois)(got into a family fight and added the I to the last name)
------ Benjamin M Clardy (Tennessee)
------- Michael Clardy (Halifax, VA)
-------- Michael S Clardy (Virginia)
--------- Benjamine Clardy (Virginia)

I am interested in finding a connection between Agnes Clardy and Elijah Wellborn, both of Anderson, SC. I believe that Agnes was the wife of Elijah, although Agnes Wellborn at one time was thought to have the maiden name of Craig. One of their oldest sons was named Chapley Booth Wellborn. In 1850 in Forsythe Co, Ga., Peter Elrod J Clardy was living in their home. He later married and moved, with several other Wellborn siblings to Dalton, Ga.
