How might I get a copy of the booklet you mention? My Clark ancestors reside in and around Hamburg, Angola and Erie County, NY.....

Another question: My grandmother, Edna Clark Schnautz, did a considerable amount of research on the Clarks, back to John Clarke (born about 1503, buried 3 Mar 1559. Gen-research was Edna's passion for nearly 40 years and she and her son published (my dad edited) a booklet in 1972 entitled "Alanson Clark and his Descendants, 1807 -1888." This book shows that Dr. John Clarke (1609-1676) did have issue, contrary to other info I've read (Moriarity source) 2 children: Abraham Clarke (1627-1678) and Elizabeth Clarke (m William Pratt). Abraham (m Bridget sur-unknown) and had Jacob Clarke who gave rise to multiple generations ... My concern is that this contradicts others who say Dr. John Clarke (1609-1676) had no issue. I believe they did ....

Edna Clarke, who did the original research was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and I am Edna's first-born grand-daughter, born in Holland and living in Texas. I believe I am also 11th generation (with respect to immigrants-to-America) from Dr. John Clarke (1609-1676) and who helped RI get charter status, as you describe.

Another puzzling question to me is that a John Clarke is listed as a Mayflower crew member and ship's Master Pilot in 1620, returning as Thomas Clarke one the ship "Prvidence" in 1623 --- these may not be related but I am unsure of how to verify. I have found this Source at Mayflower history.com although I cannot reproduce the source .... do you know?

Would you like to trade genealogy information? Please email me....
Best Regards,
Patty in Texas
