Ark. relatives, Clegg

Donna Kelley  (View posts) Posted: 13 Sep 2000 4:14PM GMT
Hi Connie,
I too, had relatives from the ark. area named clegg. (Fort Smith, area)... My grandfather was Joseph Clegg, His mother, Ida Clegg. Ida died in Fort Smith when she was in her early 100s.
My grandmother Frances Shaw married Joseph clegg in the 1930s. They had my mother Shirley Clegg, and devorsed before she was 2. This occurred in the St. Louis area. Joseph then moved to Bakerfield, Ca. made his life there with a new wife, Nelly. In some of my mother's belongings after she passed away, I found a clipping in from an old newpaper. It is of a man name Billy Joe Clegg of Seminole, Okla. something about he was on the campaign trail for 2 years because of a dream he had to end the vietnam war. I have no ideal who Billy Joe Clegg is. There is indian in my clegg's pass... this man looks like a mix between indianand white. I too am interested in finding my past. Not so much for me, but for my children. I don't want them looking at photos wondering who people in them are. (like I am doing) Let me know if any of this is helpful to you. sincerely, Donna
