Cassandra CLELLAND m 1763 MD William HAYMOND

Does anyone know the mtDNA of Cassandra CLELLAND? She and William HAYMOND had several daughters. If the mtDNA is unknown, I'd like to try to determine it, by tracing an all-female line down to the present time. If you know of such a line, please post it, or email me - jim4bartletts@verizon.net. I have an ancestor Robert Clelland (not McClelland)recorded in British Census Returns as born C1892 in America (British Citizen).
Father - Alexander Clelland b1859 Ayrshire, Scotland.
Mother - Elizabeth Eadie b1862 Ayrshire, Scotland.

Alexander and Elizabeth's children as follows -
David Clelland b1884 Ayrshire, Scotland.
William Clelland b1890 America (British Citizen).
Robert Clelland b1892 America (British Citizen).
Alexander Clelland b1894 America (British Citizen).
James Clelland b1900 Ayrshire, Scotland.

So it looks like the Clelland family were in America between C1884 and C1900. I would like to know more about Robert Clelland's birth in America (date, location etc) any suggestions?

Hi Tom, my Grandfather was Alexander Clelland b1894 in Alabama, his first born daughter Jane was my mum, I would love to find out any other info you have, I did not know any of my Pappa's family, we moved to Australia in 1963, my mum married James Hamilton in 1940 in Ayrshire, we were all born there, I am the youngest of 5. I think Carol that was sending you emails is my Uncle Sandy's step daughter, I don't remember her as I was only 10 when we moved here, but her mum is still in contact with my brother. Hi Carol, my Pappa was Alexander Clelland b1894 in Alabama, I read what Tom wrote and you about the Clelland's from Ayrshire, I did not know any of that, I would love to learn more, my mum was Jane (Jean) your step dads sister, we moved to Australia in 1963, I am Janet the yougest of the 5 kids. I spoke to your mum not that long ago when she was here on a visit. I did not know my Pappa had so many siblings born in America, I don't think my brother and sistes know all this, they will find it very intereting.

Maiden name was Clelland. Looking for info on Clellands that came from Ireland/Scotland. Have a Thomas William, Frank Thomas and then other men in line that all used either Thomas or William in name. Texas and Oklahoma were home to some. Thank you.

I am trying to trace my great grandmothers sister Margaret Clelland, born in 1904 in Hamilton Lanarkshire Scotland and arrived in Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada in 1928 to work in a place called Port Hope, Ontario for a Rev Samuel Tippet. Does anyone know anything of either Margaret or her employer? This might lead me to information on Margaret. Anything would be great thanks.

I am looking for any information on William Clelland b. 7/3/1901 in Hamilton Lanarkshire Scotland and his sister Margaret or Maggie Clelland b. 11/3/1904 in Hamilton as well. Their parents were William Clelland 1877-1911 and Mary Robertson or Robinson 1881-1909. William and Maggie are the siblings of my great grandmother Elizabeth Clelland 1902-1965. I posted my original message re Robert Clelland about 1 year ago when I was researching the family history of Margaret McKnight Clelland born 1936 in Ayrshire the daughter of Alexander Clelland born 1912 in Ayrshire who was the son of Robert Clelland born C1892 in America (British Citizen). I have completed my research but still retain my records if you feel you need some info.
I live in Troon, Ayrshire.

I don't know if you have already had information about your Robert but my step-father was Alexander Clelland born 1916, son of your Alexander Clelland, born in America (Alabama) in 1894. I have access to a lot of information about the Clellands in Ayrshire if you are interested.

I was wondering if you could help me search for information on a Clelland. Her name Is Lesley Ann Clelland. She is Irish and was born November 1973. I know she has been married once already to Andrew Pepper and has remarried again to Patteron, I think.

Thanks so much for answering - but I've already located so much info on Earnest. My father was Virgil Clelland - but he had no middle name. He was born in Oklahoma in 1915 & married Gertrude Cione Siner. Earnest was his father, and my grandfather. Earnest was born in Kansas in 1882 & married Zella Mote. I don't think we have the same ones - but if all this info matches up let me know and we'll do more. Thanks again!

My grandpa was Virgil Clelland his middle name was Clifford. I don't know if this helps .If this is the same Virgil I'm sure I can get more info for you.

Alexander Thomas Clelland

I am looking for some information on Alexander Thomas Clelland - nickname "Scottie". Unfortunately, I do not have much on him at this stage. He was born in September 1909 and died in August 1982 in New Zealand. He married Anges Scott Hall (b. July 1914, New Zealand, d. Nov 1984). They had 7 children who are living in New Zealand and are all still alive.

Any info would be great.

Thanks for the info. The death certificate of Mary Muir in 1880 gives her parents as John Clelland and Agnes Twaddle. Mary also had a brother Thomas b.1804 and a sister Elizabeth b.1810, but I've not found the birth entry for Mary. Her father John could well have been the John born 1778 in Lesmahagow to John Clelland and Isobel Watson.

I don't know if this helps but Mary Cleland and William Muir (married 1832)are my great great grandparents. The only detail I can find on Mary Cleland was a date of of birth 23/9/1810 in Lanark but this lists her parents as James Cleland and Jane Gilbert but this may be a different Mary Cleland. Mary and William had 2 children ( possibly more), Janet Muir (b 8134) and Elizabeth Clelland Muir (b1836). Janet Muir married John Scott in 1864 and had three children, James Sharp Scott(1865), John Cleland Muir SCott (1869)and Jean McLean Scott(1877). Jean Mclean married Henry Charles Taylor in 1899 and moved to Malaya. John CM Scott married Janet Black. I can't find out anymore on James Sharp Scott. I would be interested to know who Mary Clelands's parents were whether James/Jane or John/Agnes.

mary clelland was born about 1808 to John Clelland and Agnes ?Twaddle in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire. I can't find her birth or parents marriage on the IGI. She married William MUIR in 1832 in Lesmahagow.

Hi -

I think your Robert Clelland is a brother to my William Orr Clelland. I found Robert in 1910 living with daughter Anna and 2nd husband in Highland, Shelby Co., Alabama and then in 1920 living with his daughter Margaret and her 2nd husband David Orr in Tyrone, Franklin Co., IL - I can send these census sheets if you want them.

In 1910 census I found his son James living in Hillsboro, Montgomery Co., IL and living 2 doors away was David Clelland, youngest son of William Orr Clelland.

I have been trying to connect the death of a Robert Clelland in 1937 in Christian Co., IL to the rest of my Clellands. I think I have finally tied him to this David Clelland.

If you would like to compare Clelland information, I would be happy to hear from you.

The following is what we have: She was married to James Wesley Clelland & lived on farm in Oklahoma according to 1900 Census. She had three children, Earnest, Dana (?) & Katy. She was born in Ohio, approx Dec 1865. Family discussion says she died at younger age. Her son, Earnest, was my grandfather. If anyone out there has more info on Clara I would love to hear from you! How's it going? Are you still looking? Your Robert and my Ann are brother and sister. Ann ended up in Birmingham, AL, with her husband William (Herbison) ch to Herbertson. Will be happy to share info. Robert was living in B'ham in 1900 according to the census, they spelled Clelland with 1 l instead of 2. His wife was dead and Ann, his mother, was living with him and his children.

Regarding your msg concerning Margaret Clelland: You say you have a bible that may have belonged to a James Clelland.
My direct ancester James Clelland, a scotsman with inks to the Stewart kings, settled in the forks of the Cheat River Wv. in or around 1714 or later. He was married to Ann Pierpont as a second wife. He had 14 children, and was a captn in the Revolutinary War. It may have been his son that married Ms Pierpont. I find only one Margaret Clelland listed as a single woman in our linage and have only one relatively late info on her. Have no idea if she is related.
I am greatly interested in the bible and if it lists any of Rev James Clellands children and parents, as in tracing his linage back to Scotland we have no idea how he came here. My cousin Dixie and I have decided the Clellands swam over as we have not found the name on any ship's manifests.

a cousin Juliana that was related to the
Clellands. This Clelland family is allowed to wear the Stewert Plaid.

Have several good pictures of family in
Scoutland, early 1900's. Studio was in
Glasgow. Also have a Bible for James that
may have been a cousin or uncle of Margret
Goggin,here in CA.
