Just to set the record straight...I am that woman from Wisconsin who didn't say your g-grandfather was not John Klem. He most likely was, but probably NOT the Johannes Klemm that came with his family on the "Louise Marie" in 1847. I do have documentation of him living and dying in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was born in Rodendorph, Hesse Cassel, Germany on Oct. 15, 1839 and died in Milwaukee, WI Nov. 21, 1900. His brother Adam (my g-grandfather) was born Jan. 21, 1837 in Bottendorf, Churhessen, Germany and also died in Milwaukee on Nov. 12, 1912. I also have documentation on most of the rest of his siblings.
Sometimes it's easy to latch onto a name and follow the wrong line. How certain are you that your John Klem sailed on the "Louise Marie?"
