I am looking for a connection to my Joseph Clemons who was born about 1849 in SC but moved to FL by the 1870 census. In the Columbia Co., Lake City, Fl., 1860 Census, Joseph was found with a Rebecca, born 1815, and a Peter born 1850 and the last name was spelled Clements. He married a Mariah Jane Bronson in 1970 and 1876 in Orange Co., Fl. He was listed in the Orange Co., Fl, 1870 census twice, the first time with Jane and the second time with a Peter Clemens only one year younger, neither one could read or write so the spelling could have been written several ways. The Clemons spelling finally stuck with Joe and Jane's children. Hope to make a connection, Debbie Clemons jeffptd@strato.net
