Gene G. (Jiggs) Clemente
Gene G. (Jiggs) Clemente, age 80,
a resident of Erie passed away Saturday June 27, 2009 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born April 19, 1929 in Erie the son of the late Nicola and Geneva (Giovita) Iesue Clemente. Gene was a graduate of Academy High School and Gannon University. He had served with the U.S. Navy during WW II and in 1989 he retired from General Electric as an electrical engineer. Gene was a member of the Erie Wolves club, the Erie Maennerchor, and belonged to St. Paul’s RC Church. He is survived by his wife Eilene Styles Clemente and his seven children; Peter Clemente of Erie; Carol Bieler and her husband Terry of Camp Hill, Pa.; James Clemente and his wife Debra of Erie; Gene R. Clemente and his wife Phoebe of Erie; Daryl Clemente of Erie; Angela Clemente and her fiance Mike Brown of York, Pa. and Julia Patterson and her husband Jason of Harrisburg, Pa. He is also survived by a brother Joseph Clement and his wife Helen and an uncle James Iesue and his wife Frances, all of Erie. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Anthony Clemente, Luke Patterson and Samantha Clemente along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Tuesday from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon in St. Paul’s RC Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
