I don't know anything about the reunion you are interested in, but recently I found this on the internet on the "Maryland to Kentucky" website. They appear to have a reunion every two years. One year it was even in my father's hometown of Owensboro. In 2010 it will be in Leonardtown, MD. Visit: http://mdtokyreunion.club.officelive.com/default.aspx
Think I may try to go the next time it is in KY.
Deborah Clements

I do not know this family but many of the names are common with my ancestors who came to the US from Ireland in 1851. My ancestor was Henry Clements (b: 1821) who came from the Belfast/Larne area of Northern Ireland. He lived in Ohio before moving to Iowa where he died in 1905. The family included Sarah (wife) and children; Margaret, Thomas, Samuel, William, John, Mary Jane, James, Anna and Frank.

OK, long shot. I'm looking for any trace of my wife's great uncle, Frederick Thomas Clements. He was one of six children of Thomas Clements and Annie (formerly Stagg, nee Stone), born in 1896 in St Helier in Jersey (that's the Channel Islands, not across the water from New York). We believe he emigrated to Australia in the early 1920s. Anyone got any info?
I am doing a study of the Riverboat families of Lewis and Clark out of Pittsburgh in 1803. There is a reference in the book titled The Meriwether's the Lewises and their Kin that Sam Clements was related to the Lewis family of Meriwether Lewis.

One of the things I am interested in is where he received all his information for his book Joan of Arc. I understand it was his last book before he died.

There is a need for someone to DNA test from that line of Clements. The Clements surname has one of the larger groups of people who have perform DNA testing. I was able to trace my lines using the paper chase combined with DNA testing. You need both in order to be sure, I feel. It really helped to know I had the correct Clements Family!

WAS HE SHOT BY JOHN WESLEY HARDI.

I AM LOOKING FOR SOME INFORMATION ON THE FOLLOWING; PLEASE SEE IF ANY OF IT RINGS A BELL.

I am looking for information on my maternal great-grandfather, Robert W. Slaughter, possibly married to Josephine Mouser. There is little known about this family. They had a baby girl who was adopted by Tom and Martha Nichols; Jessie Beatrice Slaughter 10/01/1901. According to our family, Jessie was adopted in Houston Texas but possibly adopted in Collin County Texas. According to our family records Tom and Martha Nichols lived in Collin County from 1881-1911, and then moved to Odem Texas, which is in Nueces County, near Corpus Christi TX. I have been told that she might have had two or three brothers. It is our understanding that Jessie's mother died and the father was unable to raise her and let the Nichols adopt her. The Nichols moved to Odem Texas where Jessie grew up.
Jessie later married my grandfather, Bartley James Cornett and together they had my father, T.J. Cornett. Jessie died 8 days after giving birth to my father. My father has been looking for any information about her family but has come up with no leads. My father is 84 and is in poor health. He would like to find out about Jessie before he passes. If anyone has any information on Jessie Beatrice Slaughter's family please email me judycleblanc@hotmail.com.

Thank you, Judy Cornett LeBlanc, Plano TX.
I am searching for information on G. W. "Gorgie" Clements (perhaps a misspelling of "Georgie" but I don't know). He was born in Tennessee according to a census. He married Dosher M. Lee (b 1871) who lived in Etowah County Alabama (Gum Springs) and they had their first of four children in 1894. She shows up later as "married" but as the head of the household and he is not listed as a member of the household.
He is not buried in her family cemetery.
Thanks for any leads or information.
Hi Lorry,
I am from the same John Clements/ Elizabeth Keturah Thompson line, descending from their son Gustavus Adolphus.
They were from Augusta County, Va.
The 1st record of John Clements in America is when he patented his land on the Smith River, outside the Borden Tract in Augusta County in what is now known as Rockbridge county. In 1772 John and his wife Elizabeth deeded their land to John Lyle (Deed book #18, page 175). They moved to Rowan county, N.C. Daniel Boone lived there. John made several trips to Ky. in search of land and was killed by the Indians on his last trip. His will was probated in Rowan County in 1777. The family then moved to Ky. where we find our next records.
Elizabeth Keturah Clements name was on the Fayette County tax list for 1787 (before Montgomery county). Her will was probated in Montgomery county, April 1826.
Based on info given me by my family, John descends from a Lord John Clements which during the Protestant Reformation, was a soldier in the King's Army of England and married a Swedish princess. They lived in Grauseberg, Ireland. Probably why in my line there are so many "Gustavus Adolphus" as he was King of Sweden during the Pretestant Reformation.
I have lots more info if you care to email me.
shawn@euroantiquemarket.com
My father James Cecil Thomas grew up on Clements Bottom and I still love to go there sometimes. A beautiful place on the Kentucky River.

Re: Clements/McKenzie

Hi

I would be surprised if we were not related in some way.

I live and work in Illinois, but was born in Warrnambool, near Woodford, in 1942. As you will see, my first name is McKenzie, and my family name is CLEMENTS. I am male, and my middle name is Alexander. My parents (John Albert CLEMENTS and Brenda Margaret CLEMENTS) owned a little farmlet in Bushfield, near Warrnambool. 1963-1969. Before that they lived in Toolong (near Koroit, 1935-1944) and Ayrford (near Nullawarre, 1944-1948). My first schools were Ayrford State School (a 1-teacher school) and Timboon Consolidated School (during the first year of its operation, 1948).

In 1949 my parents moved to Footscray, where I can remember growing up (1949-1963). Of course, I am a staunch Bulldogs supporter!

My grandmother was a Margaret McKenzie. She was born in Walhalla (her father was a Walhalla miner named McKenzie), and it was at Walhalla that she met and married my grandfather, George Clements, before moving to Boort (around 1913, when the Long Tunnel at Walhalla closed).

My mother was Brenda Margaret Fleming, and she lived in Boort (in the Mallee) with her father (James Fleming) and four brothers and sisters - Reg, Bessie, Jean, and Tom. Later, Reg Fleming moved to Toolong, and then owned an Alfa Laval Dairy machinery outlet in Warrnambool. After that he purchased a farm in Woodfood, and his wife Jeannie is still alive and living near Woodford Road. One of their sons, Reggie, owns a farm on Woodford Road.

Because I grew up in Footscray, I was able to go to high school, and I finished up a mathematics teacher, and then a mathematics education lecturer at Monash University (and then Deakin University). Subsequently, I worked at the University of Newcastle (NSW), Universiti Brunei Darussalam, and, since 2005, at Illinois State University. Two of my four children currently live in Victoria (Janine Torriero, in Geelong; Natalie Clarebrough, in Mount Eliza). Another teaches at Hebron International School in Ootacamund, India, and another (Andrew) teaches at a school near Chicago (here is Illinois).

I am an Australian citizen, and will always remain one. I intend to return to Australia in a few years time. My wife (Nerida Ellerton) and I both teach in the Mathematics Department here at Illinois State university. Nerida, who is my second wife, was originally from South Australia. My first wife, Ann (formerly Bowyer)but now Johnstone, lives in Frankston/Mount Eliza. Ann and I had the four children.

Hope this helps.

McKenzie Clements (everybody who knows me calls me "Ken" Clements).
