Francis Maria Clemmer

George Mogle (1781) and Maria Grozin are the parents of Michael Mogle (dob 4 Apr 1820 PA)... Michael marries Francis Maria Clemmer (dob 16 Jan 1833) of Germantown, Montgomery, OH.

I have documentation to prove this -- interested in any info and sources for this family -- especially parents of George Mogle, Maria Grozin and Francis Maria Clemmer --
Carole Curran

I am interested in the CRAFFT line, mentioned as a surname by Susan Zeni. Reason (or Resin, Reson) Bell Crafft was born in 1812 in New Lebanon, near Dayton, OH. His son, Franklin Louis Crafft was born in Springfield, OH in 1844. Does anyone have any information on this CRAFFT line? I have been researching the CRAFFT family since 1979, with no luck! My mother was Elizabeth Ann Crafft, granddaughter of Franklin Louis.

wow - Have looked at lots of data on Jacob Rhoades Clemmer - - and unfortunately he's not the Jacob Clemmer I'm searching for - - - The 1850 census places him in Ohio in 1850 with his father Andrew - - While the McDonough County, Illinois is where I find my Jacob Clemmer in 1850 - he is widowed and has his 4 known children living with him. My Jacob Clemmer was born in Pennsylvania - or so stated on the 1850 through 1885 Kansas state census' - -

Feel there could be a kinship to the Clemmer family you have - - but can't find a link at this point - - Should you run across my Jacob - please let me know - - I would really like to find his parents, and mother of his 4 children (he married for a second time in Kansas to Lucretia Adeline (don't know her maiden name)

Thanks, Kathy

Hi there searcher
I have lots of Clemmer's in my family.
I can follow them back to 1650 or there abouts.
I have a Doctor Upton Lawrence Clemmer. He was born in Allegheny County, and died in Brownsville, Pa. He was a doctor as well as having started the first news paper in Fayette co... sold it , bought it back and sold it again. Then also had a spring spa up on the hill above the Red Stone Cemetery... where he is either burried there or in Smithfield Pa. He was married to Adelia Massey... and I have the names of several children...Lawerence = George = Caroline = Valorni = Elizbeth = Pearl = Adelia B. ...dates are from 1832 to 1869... I don't know if there will be any connection... But I have also found the when the Clemmer's came to America the the name started with a "K" Isn't this fun... Supposley there are 12 children... I only name about 7 of them... all that I could find at my search... I've also been looking for a connection from the Clemmers back to a Smith - Sturgis...
Hope this encourges you to continue... feel free to contact me, I will share what I have ... there may be a connection.
I was a Decker from Masontown, who married a Brown from Brownsville Area...
Good Luck, and Merry Christmas
Mary B.

Dear Sue,
Thank you for the offer to check your database, I so appreciate that.
How lucky can you be to go and enjoy that beautiful county on vacation.
From all that I have read so far, the Churches were wonderful at keeping records back then
I have found a reference that she was of the "dunkard" faith (which I find is like the Calvin Baptist, Mennonite and Lutheran) and her husband was Lutheran. Hopefully this will help you some.

Kay, I have hundreds of Auwarters - all from the Swabian region of Germany, mostly from Schlichten, Wintersbach, Baiereck, Hohengehren, Thomashardt, Oberberken, Unterberken, Weiler etc. I checked my database, but don't have a Catherine born in 1815, although if she was from that region she most probably would connect. I just got back from a lovely trip to the area this past March. There is a fabulous museum in Winterbach, as well as beautiful villages to visit.

Sue

I do not know which city though.
She emigrated to America sometime between her birth and 1830 when she married Charles Ackerman (from Switzerland) in Lancaster, PA in 1830.
I would be interested in sharing information with you if this might be your lineage.

I own an antique shop in North Webster, Kosciusko Co. Indiana and purchased a book with the following obituary in it. I have no relation to this family, nor any further information about this family. The first person who contacts me and interested in having the actual obit. clipping is welcomed to it.
"Harriet E. (Wells) Clemmer was born in Miami county, O., December 25 1843. She was the daughter of Wm. and Almyra Preston and moved with them, to Kosciusko county, in the autumn of 1849. United in marriage with Peter Clemmer, October 24, 1869, and with him, resided on their farm, one mile west of Sidney, until the time of her death, which occured Tuesday, October 14, 1890, aged 46 years, 9 months, and 19 days. Her life has been one that is worthy of highest regard. She was a kind friend; a good neighbor; a devoted wife, and an affectionate mother. She was a helper and was ever willing to do her part in the cause of right. She leaves a husband; son; father; one brother; four sisters, and many other friends who deeply mourn her loss. Funeral servies were held at Packerton, October 15, in the presence of a large audience of sympathizing friends. Sermon by Rev. W.D. Samuels, of North Manchester, from the text:- "Set thine house in order for thou shalt die and not live." The remains were interred in the Packerton Cemetery."

I've always felt that Modlena is some clerk's version of hearing the name Magdalena and misunderstanding it. I think the surname Meredith is in error because someone got another George Clymer (signer of the Declaration of Independence) mixed up with our George Clemmer. This George Clymer married a woman with the surname Meredith, I believe. I am also worried about the reference to York County (where George Clymer was from). I thought George was from Littletown, Adams County, Pennsylvania.

My maternal grandmother was the daughter of Albert B. Clemmer who was born in September of 1876 in Cincinnati Ohio. My great grandfather served the US army and was assigned to the Philippine Islands from 1900 until he was honorably discharged in 1920. He opted to stay and teach in Camp Fort Mills in Corregidor PI because he was already married to my great grandmother, a Spanish Filipina, at that time . He died in Corregidor when my grandmother was still a young girl . I would like to know more about our ancestors in the Clemmer side and any information about him would be highly appreciated.
