Hi,

I also would be very interested in information about Clemo's from the St. Austell area and also St. Agnes and Redruth. I have some information dating back to the early 1800's but cannot get any further.

Thanks, Julia Clemo

Wow, ok, so this is where I get completely lost. But I will try and piece things together, and see if it makes sense to any of you. If you have information, I would be forever grateful. For the life of me, I can find loads of Clemo's in Cornwall, but not the one I'm looking for.

Here goes, my great great grandfather's parents were William Crocker, and Jane Clemo. The only information I have on her is that she was born around 1812, and married William in August of 1829. The crazy part is that my grandfather had relatives in Butte Montana, and the moved there in the 1930's. This of course was the Crocker side of the family, but found it unusually coincidental that there were Crockers and Clemos in Butte Montana. Also, my great great grandfather James Crocker, is known to have mined in South Africa. Could it be there was a family tie somewhere? I dont know, its all so confusing. But please if anyone has any information on Clemo's from St Austell, particulary Jane, I would love to hear from you. I can be reached at jensenireland@hotmail.com

Do you have the family bible which gives the marriage for William Clemo and Mary Littleton as 02 Nov 1811 at Lanlivery. This marriage is a cornerstone of my research and I would very much like to obtain documentary evidence of it, or verification of the above-named persons, date and place by the person who has the bible.
It appears my greatgreatgrandmother, on one of her son's marriage returns, put Louisa Clemow sp?) as her maiden name. There has been much confusion with the possiblity of Clement as well. She WAS BORN C.1837,England, (possiblity of Devon, not sure where location wise thatis to Cornwall)- had a brother William, and a half brother. mY GrandDad's brother, told me he believed they were miners,
and either William or the half brother stayed with the occupation. Louisa's mothers name was Mary, and Frederick her father. They immigrated 1849, she married Reinauer within a few years. Would like to verify the name, and possible descendants, etc. If this sounds like a name you ran across in your search, contact me, thanks Dean Reinauer
(deanR@REinauer.com)

I just noticed the Lobb name while skimming the Clemo messages. My G Grandfather was Francis Lobb Brown, born in Cornwall 14 Dec. 1847. His parents were William Brown and Eliza Clemo. Both came to US and are buried in one of the mining towns in Michigan. All I know about Eliza is that she was born about 1820. That Lobb middle name makes me think there could be a connection with your Lobbs. I would appreciate any info you may have to offer. Thanks!

Were any of our Clemo/Clemow--James Jack family who were from New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland ,(who immigrated first to Dalhousie, Lanark, Ontario, Canada), related to your English family?

My relative, a son of Peter and Jane Jack, Frank Lamar Clemo m. my grandfather's sister, Mary Grace Brooks in North Dakota--probably Michigan, Nelson Co., ND He died in 1950, Mary moved to California with family. Yes they are hard to find info on. Franks's brother, Peter Edward Lawrence(settled in Kansas City, Mo) used the last name spelling Clemow--all others Clemo.

Please contact me at bjh21942@flash.net

Hi Dean, the answer is affirmative, all the Clemos connect and without looking anything up, I recall reading about the two Josephs who were kicked out of the Collegiate Church in Crantock around 1660. I think they might have alienated Cromwell's men (they were strongly pro Charles 1). I should have to look up Gwennap and Kenwyn. It would be helpful to have the Christian names. Les Barber has sent me a very comprehensive listing of the Cornish Clemos and there is probably something there. Rgds. Max Clemo,
