My 6th great grandfather was John Clendaniel which he had two wifes 1st one was Prudence Parsley they had two children sarah and elizabeth clendaniel and his 2nd wife was Rachel??? and they had Samplus, George, Joseph, Margret and Mary Clendaniel. which my 5th great grandfather was Samplus.

My 7th Great Grandfather was William Clendaniel which he married Margret Vankirk and they had 4 Children. John, Betty, Rachel and Abigal Clendaniel. Are we talking about the same person? If we are how are you related?

Hi there! Not the same William Clendaniel line. However, you are probably connected to all the other Clendaniels in Delaware--we aren't. If you see any postings by Phillip Clendaniel, he's the genealogist you want to talk to. Good luck!

My grandfather was William Russell Clendaniel and all I know is that he was from Delaware, probably born near 1900. We grew up in Millville NJ. He married Teresa Testa. My dad is Louis, is siblings were, william, donald, judith, esther and kay.

My grandfather was from DE is all I know. Our family grew up in Millville, NJ. Grandfather was was William Russell Clendaniel. My dad and myself are Louis A. Clendaniel Sr./Jr., my dad's siblings are William, Donald, Esther, Kay, Judy. Never knew anything else about my grandfather but that him was Delaware.

Interesting article in the Lima News (www.limanews.com available on line) 12-20-2006 about Nellie (Clendaniel) Albridge. Nellie was b. 5-16-1880 in Easton, N. Hampton Co. Pa. and died 5-28-1966 in Lima, Allen Co. Ohio. She is the daughter of George Valentine and Anna Short. Nellie was my grandmother.

I dont know if my step grandfather is related or not...His name was Elwood Clendaniel married to my grandmother, Pauline Brey. They lived in Delaware, Lincoln i believe...Its been about 30 years since his death...He was probaly born around 1910...I remember he was a fisherman...

Can anyone give me info on Herbert Blackstone Clendaniel born 1892 in Delaware.(His parents/grandparents names) Also the nationality of the Clendaniel name (Scottish/Irish/Welsh???).
Trying to gather info quickly for my father Frank Butler Clendaniel Sr. born 1929 son of Herbert. Unfortunately, Herbert didn't pass on much info about the family to any of his 13 children with Marion.....I'm fairly new at this any guidance/info would be greatly appreciated.

I recently found an ancestor named Jessefy Clendaniel who married Henry Macklin in 1847. They had 6 children. I am descended from Anna Eliza Macklin b. 1847. I don't know if this is the same family, but hopefully it will give you a lead. Hope I helped!

Also, I have a lot of Shorts in my line--All tracing back to an Edward Short (about 1680-1739). Any connection?

Searching for decsendants of my grandfathers' sister. My grandfather was George Albert Messick, Jr. Son of George Albert Messick, Sr. and Olevia Sherwood. He had a sister Clara Messick who married Gove Betts. I believe Clara lived one day short of her 100th birthday. Clara has a daughter Roberta "Bertie" who married a Clendaniel.

I believe Bertie Clendaniel is living in a nursing home in Millsboro, Sussex Co., DE at the age of 82. If you are a decsendant of Clara Messick or know one of Bertie's children or grandchildren, please contact me.

Holly--This is only info I can tell you. It's general. My branch of the Clendaniels believes they are Welsh from the Isle of Anglesy. In Welsh Gaelic the name was spelled Llan Daniel Fab. The 'll' is Welsh makes a 'Cl' sound. The phrase means "churchyard of Daniel the Younger." We also believe, but do not have certain proof of this, that the Clendaniels came to the US via Barbados. Clendaniels have been listed in ships passenger lists of the 1700s.

Even though it is probably very likely that all the Clendaniels in Delaware are related, there are links missing.

Apparently, there is a Clendaniel family cemetary somewhere downstate. Check the GenWeb Project, Delaware for more info.

The only other interesting thing of note is that I also have a cousin by the name of Holly Clendaniel who is a lawyer in Maryland.

I have come to a dead end. I'm hoping I can get people talking and make some new Clendaniel contacts. My line of Clendaniels--William and Hester Watson Clendaniel--stops at them in Kent County ca. 1800. Anyone have any little thing that might help? No anyone who might know something?

William was born ca. 1795 in Sussex County and Hester was born after 1800. I have no more information on either. My grandfather was George Watson Clendaniel born in Chestertown, MD in 1897 (resided in Denton, MD for many years). His brothers were William and Charles. If anyone has info to help me out, I'm trying to link us up other Delaware Clendaniels.
