My Grandfather was Clarence's Brother, his name was John Quincy Clevenger. John Quincy (aka also was called Quincy in his younger years) had 3 kids James Edward Clevenger and George Maion Clevenger (George is my Father) he past last year 2011 he was born 1926. Bertha Lee (Huff) Clevenger was James and George's Mother,,,,John's second marriage was 2 Jessie Mae (Alexander) Clevenger, they had a daughter Alice Geneva (Clevenger) Hall. James is still living as well as Geneva Clevenger is...James lives in Columbus Ohio, Geneva is living in Ashland Kentucky, John Quincy was Born Feb 13 1900 and death was 1981, his 1st was died in 1928 or 29. SHELBY: Eunice Pauline Clevenger, age 94, of Shelby, Ohio died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Crestwood Care Center in Shelby, OH. (Richland County)

She was born May 14, 1917 in Petroleum, West Virginia the daughter of the late Cora Louise (Hawkins) and Clyde Furr, Sr.
She was a 1936 graduate of Harrisville High School in Harrisville, West Virginia.
She was a former employee of Mansfield Tire and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Shelby.

Eunice is survived by her 2 sons: Norman Clevenger of Shelby and Terry (Keith) Clevenger of Alabama; a daughter: Kathryn Hope Clevenger of Toledo; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Avon S. Clevenger; 2 daughters: Martha Ann Clevenger and Norma Sue Cleary; a son: Donald Clevenger - who was killed in Vietnam.

Also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Clyde Furr, Jr., William Furr and Paul "Jack" Furr; 3 sisters: Kathleen Gibson, Helen Wilson, and Patricia Sharp;

Friends may call on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM conducted by Rev. Edna Stahl.
Burial will be in Myers Cemetery.

There were three half-sisters, Inez, Adeline and Frances, from Marion's second marriage to Ida Mae Kitchen Pope. My mother was Frances. It's my understanding that Clarence, who was 7 at the time of the remarriage, lived with and was raised with the second family, and John Quincy, who was under one at the time, was raised by his grandmother and her husband, Caroline Howard Clevenger Elliott and James W. Elliott.

The half-sisters were:

-Inez Clevenger, b. 23 May 1902, Ashland, Boyd County, Ky; d. Mar. 1980, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Married John Shafter Ingram (1898-1964) abt. 1923. Children: 1) Janice Marion Ingram b. 6 Feb. 1924, Ashland, m. Ralph Wallace Stokes (1825-1986), children: Jeffrey Wallace Stokes and Ronald Stokes. 2) John Shafter Ingram, Jr. b. 10 Aug 1925, Ashland, d. abt. 1977, Cincinatti, Ohio; married Jane Colglazier; children: Rick, Linda, Todd. 3) Shirley Ann Ingram, b. abt 1937, WV, d. 2004, Okalahoma; married Robert Eugene Immel; children: Mark Steven, Matt Eugene, Melanie, Gregory, Theresa.

-Mary Adeline Clevenger, b. 10 Aug. 1905, Ashland, d. 17 Mar, 1934. Adeline died of tuberculosis. She was married for a short period of time to Thomas Cassidy, The story was that when she contracted tuberculosis, he left her and she went home to live with her mother, who cared for her until her death.

Mrs. Adeline Clevenger Cassidy, 27, died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Clevenger, 2232 Montgomery Avenue, Saturday afternoon at 3:50 o'clock after an illness of three years.

News of Mrs. Cassidy's death comes as a distinct shock to her host of friends here.

She is survived by her parents, and by four sisters, Frances at home, Mrs. Wade Gates of Ashland, Mrs. John Ingram of Upton, Ky, Mrs. Walter McPherson of Detroit and two brothers, Roy E. Pope of Ashland and Clarence Clevenger of Ashalnd.

Funeral service is to be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home of her parents, with Rev. P.E. Thornberg in charge and burial will follow in the Kitchen private mausoleum in the Ashland cemetery.

Yes, sorry,the 1850 census was in Blue River. 1860 was in Terre Haute. Ashford's birth info was found on FamilySearch, listing Bazzel and Margaret as parents.

The Indiana Marriages to 1850 databases lists a Zobina H. Brown marrying a *Mary* Clevenger on 23 Oct 1838 in Tippecanoe County.

The 1850 census lists a Z. H. Brown, age 38; *Mary*, age 34, John R., age 15 - all in Blue River township, *Johnson* County, Indiana.

Is this the information you're going on? I don't find any documentation with the details you provided.

Ashford Clevenger, son of Bazzel

I need to find records that show Ashford was Bazzel's son. I believe that he was born in Ohio abt 1810 as the first son of Bazzel and Margaret Wolf Clevenger. He married Margaret/Mary Jennings in 1834 in Tippecanoe, IN. I believe that they are the parents of my 2nd great grandfather, John Rosier Bailey Clevenger, born 1835. I also need confirmation of this. A Margaret Clevenger married Zebina Brown in 1838 so I think Ashford died between 1834 and 1838,and she remarried. They were living in Terre Haute in 1850 with a 15 year old boy named John R. If anyone has info regarding any of this I would appreciate it!

I also have the same line down to Elias Clevenger 1764-1846 and his wife Nancy Wood 1783-1863, then his son, Allen Clevenger 1808-1859 and his wife Susannah Hightower 1811-1880, to their son Annanias Clevenger 1833-1903--my great great grandfather and his wife Mary Elizabeth Lillard 1842-1882, to their son John Murray Clevenger 1876-1959 and his wife Rosamond Jane Bowers 1878-1944 to my grandmother-Lorraine Jane Clevenger 1900-1995 and my grandfather LeRoy David Martin 1899-1969. Don't recall if I contacted you earlier. Rachel (1848) was also a great(+)-grandmother of mine. She married Daniel Thompson and her daughter, Mary Jane Thompson, married Joseph Gifford, a great (+) grandfather of mine. I'm interested to know if we are further connected. I haven't worked on the Clevengers for some time and can't find where I got the "Neam" name from. I thought I saw it on a census, but can't find it now. It may be a mistake. Would like to know more about Boone Clevenger, I said he was John Quincy Clevenger brother. I meant he was his Uncle. John's brother was Clarence Buck Clevenger they had 2 half sisters,I was told that Boone helped take care of John and Buck when Marion re-married. John Quincy Clevenger was my Grandfather.

I've heard my Grandmother mention Boone Clevenger. Boone's Grandmother, Caroline Howard Clevenger was a sister to my Grt Grt Grandfather Jesse K. Howard, Jr. of Elliott County. Boone used to visit quite a bit with my Grandmother's Uncle Jake Howard.

I am also related to the Clevengers on my Mohter's side of the family. Grt Grt Grandmother Jane Clevenger Adkins (w/o Mason Adkins)of Elliott County.

I have researched my family back to George Clevenger(ca 1654). I have not found the father of George Clevenger.

What is the source for the parents of George Clevenger(ca 1654)?? You mention John Clevenger and Mary Mnu. Where does that info come from?
