I SURMISE THAT THE NAME CLICK WAS GLICK TO START, FROM GERMAN GLUCK WITH AN UMLAUT (PRONOUNCED "GLOOK"). I HAVE A TN ANCESTRESS, ANNA GLUCK.

ANYHOW, CATHERINE WEAVER M WILLIAM C. CLICK, MONROE CO., TN.

CATHERINE WAS A DAUGHTER OF FREDERICK WEAVER/WEBER/WEBBER B 1750 NC, LUTHERAN GERMAN, D 1839 SULLIVAN CO., TN. REV WAR VETERAN, BATTLE OF KING'S MTN., WEALTHY LANDOWNER

THESE GERMAN NAMES GET STRANGE...AN ANCESTRESS, ELIZABETH BEELER, DESCENDED FROM JOHANNES BUHLER, A SWISS IMMIGRANT, 1700'S, I THINK.

BUHLER GETS WRITTEN INTO ENGLISH AS BEELER, BEHLER, PEELER, BOOHER, AND SO ON.

ANYHOW, "CLICK" IS NOT AN ENGLISH NAME AS FAR AS I KNOW. THAT IS WHY I THINK IT WAS GLICK, FROM GLUCK.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE, MY ANCESTOR MARC HARDOUIN CAME FROM ROUEN, NORMANDY, FRANCE, TO NEW AMSTERDAM (NOW NYC)IN THE 1600'S. AND, GUESS WHAT, ALL OF THE SUDDEN HE BECAME MARK HARDIN!

I HOPES THIS HELPS EVERYONE OUT THERE.

I HAVE SET UP A WEAVER WEBSITE.

From the emails I received about Dorothy CLICK and Jack LAMBERT, I guess those aren't the folks I'm looking for. Thanks for the replies!

I am trying to locate the parents of a girl born in Tennessee sometime around 1839. I have seen her name written different ways Darthula Jane CLICK, Jane LAMBERT, Jane BLAKE.

The oral family story goes that Jane was born a LAMBERT. But Jane's mother died when Jane was young. Her mother did not approve of slavery and wanted Jane to live with the mother's brother after the mother's death. When Jane's mother died, her maternal uncle came to get her. Jane's father gave her the choice of staying or going with her uncle. She wanted to go with her Uncle CLICK. Jane's father said if she did that she couldn't take anything with her, not even the clothes she was wearing. So Uncle CLICK took a saddle blanket and wrapped it around her, let her drop her clothes, and rode off with Jane.

I found Jane in the 1850 Murray Co., Georgia, census when she was 11 years old:
Click, George W 33 M Farmer 500 Virginia
Click, Mary 30 F Tennessee
Click, John H 10 M Tennessee
Click, William P 8 M Tennessee
Click, Catherine M 6 F Georgia
Click, Mahala J 5 F Georgia
Click, George W 1 M Georgia
Click, Valentine 26 M Laborer Tennessee
Click, Darthula J 11 F Tennessee

Does anyone have any information about the LAMBERT connection or the CLICK family? I would really appreciate any help I can get.

--Stephanie

PLEASE NOTE, THIS WAS POSTED FOR REFERENCE ONLY. I AM NOT RELATED TO, NOR AM I RESEARCHING THIS FAMILY, I’VE ONLY DONE A COPY AND PASTE FROM OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER FYI.

THIS INFO HAS BEEN POSTED WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE EDITOR OF THE COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD.

Gregory G. Click
Posted: Tuesday, Dec 30, 2008 - 04:05:47 pm PST
COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD, MOSES LAKE. WASHINGTON.

Gregory G. Click, 67, longtime resident of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Columbia Basin Hospital, after an extended illness.

Greg was born in Yakima, Wash., on April 13, 1941, to Walter L. and Elizabeth C. Click. He started developing leadership skills early in life. His parents became 4-H leaders and encouraged his participation in various projects, where he developed confidence and skills. As he entered high school, Greg moved into the FFA organization and was very active.

Among his FFA accomplishments, he served as president of the local chapter in his junior year and later represented the state of Washington at the national FFA speaking contest held in Kansas City, Mo. In other school activities he was active in debate and student government. Outside of school, Greg was talented in piano-playing and organized his own band that played at local events.

After graduating from Ephrata High School, Greg entered Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., where he became a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from the College of Liberal Arts in speech and communication. Greg continued his interest in student government and served as student body president during his senior year. After graduation in 1963, Greg started his career in radio broadcasting when he got his first job at KHQ in Spokane.

Later, he moved to Seattle and worked as farm news director for KOMO radio and TV for three years. After that, he worked for three years with Northwest Cablevision, which was building a small TV studio. Greg returned to Ephrata and managed KULE radio station before leaving that opportunity to help out with his family’s property holdings. As Greg’s health declined, he retired early and led a quieter lifestyle.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Walter L. Click of Ephrata, in 1985, and his mother, Elizabeth C. Click of Ephrata, in 1995.

Survivors include his sister, Sandra Brisbon in Quincy, and two nephews, Rhan Eastling in New York City and Walter Brisbon in Grants Pass, Ore., and several cousins, Oliver and Patricia Click and their son Rocky Click of Soap Lake, David Click of Camp Hill, Pa., Ida Beth Rile of Spokane, and Barbara Skalbeck and Doug Click of Portland, Ore.

There will be a private family burial at the Ephrata Cemetery where his body will be laid to rest next to his parents. A memorial service is planned at Nicholes Funeral Home in Ephrata on Friday at 2 p.m.

Greg’s passion for radio broadcasting and the field of communications and his love of WSU inspired him to set aside funds from his estate to go to WSU’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication to be used for equipment purchases. He invites you, if you are so moved, in lieu of flowers to contribute to this fund. Any interest, people can contact his sister Sandra at 509-787-2880 for more information.

BROUGH, HINDS, CLICK & RATTS Families of Washington Co., IN

Hi,

I'm trying to connect a Cecilia Braugh (my 4th great-grandfather) to the families of Emanuel Brough & Elizabeth Click. I understand that Elizabeth Click was the daughter of Jacob Click and Margaret Ratts.

Cecilia or Cela was born in 1836 in Washington County, Indiana. She married James Hinds in 1856. In the 1840 census record Emanuel Brough is livng next to James Hinds and Rhinehart Ratts and Godfrey Ratts are listed on the same page.

From papers written by my great-grandmother she said that Cecilia was of German decent and that her family came from the Carolinas and eventually moved to Washington County, Indiana.

I'm also trying to connect the Brough, Hinds and Stover families together.

If anyone can help or knows of any information that might help me in my search, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks.
I too am researching the Click/Cleek family. I am looking for a Joseph Click/Cleek Born <1828>, he married a Anna Gilliam in Scott County, Virginia. I know he had at least two children: Sophia and Henry. I have been told his father may have been a Hanner Click/Cleek. Hanner appears as the father of an Elijah Click in marrage records for Scott County. If anyone has any of these names in their family tree or research I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!
