I am looking for more information on these two folks and then going back. The family came to the Greene County area and stayed in the general area (Grainger, Hamblen and Jefferson Counties) to this day.

If anyone knows anything that'd be great - and I'm all for meeting distant cousins if you also come from this line, hit me up.

Jeremy

John Climer and Sarah Hess of Texas

I have only recently been introduced to the Climer line of my family tree. My grandmother's sister, Sarah (Sallie) Hess, was married to John Climer on Jan. 7, 1900. She was born June 9, 1880, and died Sept. 13, 1968. He was born Sept 16, 1880, and died Oct. 7, 1941. They are both buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Bells, Texas.

John and Sallie had these children: Elmer Ray (married Ella Jewel Burk), Jack (married Willie Mae Flowers), Leonard, Willie, "Female" (married R. E. Belote), and Bertha Mae (married Mr. Brady). I only have two siblings for John and they are F. C. and Tom, however, there may be more. Their father was Henry Climer, but I don't have their mother's name.

Most of this information I found in obituaries and my dad remembers some of these people. If any of this looks familiar to someone, please help me out. I want to make sure the information I have is correct and if you have more to add to this family, I would be more than happy to receive it. I am also searching for clues to the Hess line and will share what I have on them.

You can post a reply here or email me directly at qnave@yahoo.com.

Andrew Climer or Clymer, OH & MI

Andrew Climer or Clymer, born 1820-1821, OH, lived in Lake, Berrien Co., MI. This is what I THINK I know about him: He married three times. His first wife was Nancy Kinsey, whom he married in Green Co., OH. His second wife was Emma or Amelia Clark (possibly her married name). His third wife was Mary Kill (possibly her married name). HIs children were Isaac, S. C. (female), George W., Mary A., and Andrew M. He was the son of Abraham or Abner Clymer and Nancy Painter. His siblings were Christopher, Edward, Henry, Albert, and John.

I would like to correspond with other Climer/Clymer researchers about this family. I believe Emma (Lewis) Clark was my ancestress. I descend from the son of a previous marriage.

I have a little gedcom on the family I can share.

Thank you,
Kathleen Choi

John Climer and Sarah "Sallie" Hess

Does anyone know how to reach Mary Ellen Runyon, who has posted many messages on this forum about Henry Climer and Jane Underwood? There are about 3 email addresses for her that I have used to try to contact her and they all bounced back. I am related to the Climer clan as follows:

Henry and Jane Climer's son, John, married Sarah "Sallie" Hess. Sarah is the sister of my grandma, Bessie Florence Hess, who married John Calloway Hodge. I am the daughter of their youngest son, James Norman Hodge.

I am concentrating my research on the Hess line right now and would like to know if she (or anyone else) has researched them, too. The Hess' and Climers were in TN in 1900, and were in TX by 1910. John & Sarah Climer and John & Bessie Hodge are all buried in Rosehill Cemetery, in Bells, TX.

Annie moved to Arcadia, Florida in 1900 and Rosa followed soon after.

I am looking for my natural father Freddie Milton Climer also known as "Bubba". He is the son of my deceased grandfather, Chester Milton Climer of Dyersburg.
I have not seen my father since I was about 9, I am 35 now and married with 2 beautiful children. I wish only to make contact with him, I have searched a long time with no luck.
My mother, his first wife, is Donna Elizabeth Roughead. She is remarried. Her maiden name before marrying Bubba was Story and her family comes mainly from Georgia and South Carolina.
If you have any information or if you are a Climer in the Dyersburg,Tn. area please try to make contact with me. I feel it is important for my children to know their family heritage.
***It is important that my father and his family know that I seek nothing from him but his friendship and I wish to make him part of my life.
Mark Climer

Climers (Clymers) In Ohio

I am looking for information on a John H. Climer (or Clymer) born circa 1839 somewhere in Ohio. He married an Angeline Elliott on July 27, 1862 in Buffalo (LaRue County), Kentucky. The marriage bond shows he was 23 and she was 17 at the time. The signature on the at document looks like John H. spelled his name "Climer". Later spellings in the family were with the "y".

They had one son - my GGF, David - who was born September 13, 1863 in LaRue County, KY.

John H. Climer (Clymer) does not appear in any Kentucky census; however, the David lists his father's birthplace in the 1880 census as Ohio. Any help would be apppreciated.

My Great Grandmother Jenny Climer

I'm just starting to do my family genealogy. I know that my grandmother's name is Evelyn (Griffy) Cassidy and that her mothers name was Jenny (possibly Jennifer?) Climer she married Silas Griffey and was possibly born in 1889 or close to that time. Other than my grandmother they had about 10 other children. They lived in Circleville Ohio, but I'm not sure where she was born possibly in Clarksville. If anyone has any information that might help please contact me at mlsibole@yahoo.com. Thank you!
