Octavia Cline from West Virginia

I am seeking help from anyone who may have information regarding amy great-grandmother, Octavia Cline. Octavia married my great-grandfather Garfield Riffe in (I believe) Wyoming County, West Virginia. They had five children: Cloyd Riffe (my grandfather), Matney Riffe, Crucie Riffe, Effie Riffe, and Garfield Riffe, Jr.
I know that she later married a Lindsey Eldridge and bore two sons: Raymond Eldridge and Jefferson Isaac Eldridge. Lindsey's father's name was Jefferson Eldridge, and his grandfather's name was Isaac Eldridge.

Hi everyone
My grandmother's father was Richard Cline, born in Barbados in 1845 when his father, William Cline was posted there as a British soldier. William's wife was Ellen, originally from Ireland. I would be interested in knowing whether any of Richard's siblings emigrated to America in the late 1800's & early 1900's. Names I have are Mary, Ellen Alice, and William Owen Cline - all born between 1839-1843.
Richard returned to Liverpool, UK and settled there.Has anyone got any likely connections?
Zed

Seeking info on Orus C Cline b1890's son of James C Cline of MO

I am the descendant of an illegitimate child born of Orus Clarence Cline b. 1897 in Springfield, MO and "Lillian Watson" (could be alias), supposedly born in Pulaski (says NY- could be county in Missouri).

I have gone back on the Cline side as far as Orus's grandparents Samuel L? Cline b.1823 in TN and his wife Lydia A Price b. 1828 TN. These dates and places are Census records and are therefore not necessarily correct. Though I have definitely placed them in Benton, Dallas, MO... other children of Samuel and Lydia (Lida, Lidie) are: Arminta b 1851, Joseph b 1855, Frances C.P. b 1858, Sarah A b 1863, and Mary L. born 1865.

Looking for:
1. info on Orus Cline's marriage to a Gean (Jean) in the 1920's in California- they lived there in the 1930 Census. Gean was born in Illinois in 1908 or 1907.
2. info on Samuel and family- Samuel died in 1865 in the Civil War- parentage unknown.
3. info on Lydia A Price's family. Related to a William Price in some way.

Thank you!

Cline Reunion - Conklin Forks, NY (S. of Binghamton)

Does anyone know if the Cline family reunion that used to be held in Conklin Forks, NY is still being held annually? I saw posts from James Cline about the reunion, but the posts are dated several years ago, and I've emailed him but haven't heard back yet (might have an old email address). He said they have been held every year, for the last 100 years or so, the last Sunday of July, which would be this coming Sunday! If anyone has any contact information for this reunion, please let me know as I'm interested in attending.

Thanks!
Michelle Taylor
MRTYL99@ATT.NET

I am trying to locate Peter Cline who emigrated in 1730 - 1740. Do not know his wife's name. Had 3 children: Henry, Anna Elizabeth (dob 1748 - 1833), and another daughter who married M. Colonel Samuel Bare. Samuel Martin Cline and Henry Cline II who was born in 1783 are also of that lineage. Henry , born 1783 and died 1859 had 8 children, one of whom was George Clind (1808-1856) which is my line. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am new to this search and we have good records, but they primarily begin with George and Elizabeth Dull or Doll, daughter of Joseph Dull and his wife Eve. They were all of Shenandoah County, Virginia. Thanks.

CLINE / KLINE - DAVIDSON 1850 - 1900 Little Rock

I am trying to establish a connection between the CLINE / Kline - DAVIDSON families in Little Rock, AR in the 1850 - 1900 time slot. Any connection between these two families is of interest. Of particular interest in the 1880 census are George DAVIDSON, 28, blacksmith, born in Virginia, and John CLINE, 72, hotel keeper, born in Ireland.

The connection, if any, of the George DAVIDSON above to George DAVIDSON, 29, blacksmith, born in England, and recorded in the 1860 census of New Orleans would be of great interest.

I need help locating the parents and siblings of my gggrandfather John W. Cline, born 1842, in Cherokee Co. N.C. and died 1931, Menlo, Chattooga, Ga. He was married to Julia A. Haney and served as a pvt. with Co.F,10th Tenn. Inf. for the North. From what a ggreat aunt has told us, our family came through N.C. and he possibly had brothers named Levi and Michael. If anyone can connect the dots, let me know.
Thanks,
Lisa

He eventually moved to Kentucky where he married Miss Mingley. This produced Hugh, Sirus, John, Adelia, Irene, Emily and Belle. His second marriage to my great grandmother was to Mary Ellen Logsdon. They had Alfred, Minnie, Jim, Louella and Elcana. Alfred is my grandfather and is no longer living. If you can give me any information on the roots in Germany or where to look, it would be appreciated.

Cline Research Project in Kentucky

Hi all Cline Researchers.
I am undertaking a very large project and need all of your help. I am going to attempt to determine the various Cline groupings in Kentucky. If successful, we should be able to identify which family line that our families came from. I know that my line is the Wythe County, Virginia Family. I know that many of the Eastern Kentucky Cline's came from the Tug River Cline's. There was a group of Cline's that came from the east (John Cline) with the early surveyors of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. There are also the 'Boston Cline group from North Carolina.
I have started with the Kentucky Death Index 1911- 2000 and am in the process of obtaining all Cline death records between 1911 and 1953 From the microfilm in Frankfort. In conjunction with this I also have started with the Allen County 1930 Census and am proceding to work up a data base of each Cline family in Allen County.
I will be posting the results of the progress of this research on an AWT file. This has two purposes, a ready back-up, and a open structure for input by others who have information to add by use of the Post-em system to this file. I intend to post all sources, notes, and references. Feel free to use this information. All I would ask is that you let me know how it fits into your data and where possable, how I would be able to expand my data.
I would like to hear from everyone researching Cline's in Kentucky.
Thank You

John Jacob Cline

Jay, Richard, (or anyone else)
I read you postings to the list under Jay’s question of 8-14-01. The discussion of Philip, Philip’s Jr. and Sr. really is intriguing. This is because I may have some information to help. Maybe not. Let me explain.

Last December I was in Pickaway County, Ohio doing some work to find some information about my ancestor William Cline b. 8-7-1802 (I do not know where). While there I noticed a Philip Jr. and Sr. I did not log any information about them, but I do remember one of them was buried in the same very small cemetery as Joshua DW Cline b. 2-15-1832 (William’s son). That cemetery is the Ashville Cemetery (in Ashville, Ohio). I believe I have a photo of that (Philip’s) stone but that film is still in the camera. We will be returning to Circleville (Pickaway county seat) this fall.

I have Joshua and William’s marriage dates and places, and Name and birthdate for all of Joshua’s children. Their names in order were (William, Benjamin, Lucinda, John, George Taylor Cline, and Harriet- all born between 1855 & 1864). Joshua died a few months after discharge at the end of the Civil War. I do not know who William’s parents were or if they had other children beside Joshua DW Cline. Obviously I do not know if William had brothers or sisters.

This is circumstantial and proves nothing, but, I also found land records indicating Philip Jr, Philip Sr, Harriet, John M, Jacob and Joshua DW (all Clines) owning land in adjoining (or nearly adjoining) sections of Harrison and Walnut Creek townships. Those are all just east and north of Ashville. There are a lot of Cline’s in this county, but the earliest names associated with land or chattel transactions involve Jacob, Conrad, Henry, William, & Philip all before 1840).
If anyone can benefit from or help me with related information please do.
Larry Cline
Evan CLINE - Ohio and Iowa

Does anyone have a CLINE who married a HANEY and was living in Ohio around 1850?

The census listing of gg-grandfather, Evan HANEY, in 1850 (Monroe Co, Washington Twp, OH) lists 19 year old Acious (sp) Cline in his household. It doesn’t say she is his daughter; however, Evan HANEY’s probate papers list a grandson named Evan CLINE living in Iowa. None of Evan HANEY's other daughters married a Cline, so I believe this may have been his daughter and the mother of Evan CLINE, listed in the 1850 census.

I’d appreciate any help.

Peggy Tice Rogers
My computer crashed and I've lost all my information on Mary Nell Cline who married James Gault on 26 Sept. 1867 in Monroe Co., OH. James was born in PA. James is listed on the 1870 Pleasants Co., WV census - but without Mary. The 1880 Pleasants Co. census shows them together again. Mary Nell's parents are David and Jane (McVay) CLINE. James d. ca 1890 and Mary Nell Cline Gault married James Robinson on 20 April 1890. Can anyone help me get this CLINE information again please? My direct email is mtg921@hotmail.com Thanks!
