Turns out by 2011 the spelling has been found to be KLINK.
I have found C. G. Klink onboard ship coming into Nome AK about 1901....dont have the article in front of me...could be 1904.
Nome's Goldrush was ongoing. Likely Ivan Peterson may have met C. G. Klink in Nome. By late 1920s Ivan is in Chickaloon with his drilling operation for oil / gas & his camp mgr is a Mr. Klink. Mrs Klink is the camp cook.

I am very interested where the info about:

The earliest Klink records in North America indicate that a Johannes Jacob Klinck, and a Michael Klinck arrived in the year 1754 at the port of Philadelphia, PA. Jacob it is stated in the original records in a report of his departure by his minister is from small town in Wuertemberg, Germany.

He appears to be my 7th great-grandfather and I am trying to make the jump back to Germany.

He seems to have died around 1802-1812 depending on various trees in the Albany New York area.

Thanks,

Lisa

I don't know whether or not you are still around, Donald. But my name is also "Donald Clink". I am the great grandson of Stephen Henry Junior. My grandfather William Henry Clink moved to North-Western Ontario, near Fort Frances. I have lived in that district all of my life, and still do. I can provide information concerning Stephen Henry Jr.'s descendants, and especially those of my line, that is, William Henry's descendants.

Donald, my name is also Donald Clink. I am a direct descendant of Stephen Henry Clink b. 1820.

Do you happen to know the date of his birth?

By the way, your closer relative William, who wrote Lambton & Kent as well as Trafalgar Road visited me here in North-Western Ontario a few years before he died. A couple of years later his widow brought me the original tomb stone of Stephen Klink, b. August 2, 1786.

Re: CLINKS in Illinois, Kansas, Colorado, California, Oregon

I think you're combining data on two unrelated Clink families. Some of this pertains to different Clinks.

I recently dug up a branch of Clinks that married into the Horton family I'm researching. (See Horton, George Firman. Chronicles of the Horton Family. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Home Circle Publishing Company, 1876.)

My William Clink was born August of 1844 in probably Green Springs, Ohio. He married Ann Elizabeth Horton about 1873, probably in Green Springs or around Republic or Tiffin, Ohio.

William and Ann Elizabeth (called Libbie) had ten children, and I'm still working out the details on all of them, but at least 4 died before they left Ohio- Glen, Nellie, plus Mary and one other.

The other children were Bertha (born in Ohio, 1879), Juanita (born Ohio, 1881), Frank Horton Clink (b. Garden City Kansas Feb 2, 1889), and Eulah (and/or Marie b. Colorado 1893). Trying to figure out if Eulah and Marie were the same person.

Libbie and William left Ohio and moved to Kansas; Swink, Colorado; Pueblo, Colorado; then the area in/around Los Angeles, California.

Frank Horton Clink (middle name for his mother's maiden name)married at least two times that I've found: the first time to Charlotte Guise (m. June 4, 1912, divorced 1919). The second time to Lottie Canterburry (Oct 9, 1919). There may have been an even earlier marriage.

Frank Horton Clink is buried with this family of Clinks (mother and at least one sister) at Inglewood Cemetery in Los Angeles. Hope this helps to keep them straight.

Clink history

Sharon, Hi! Just wanted to add my two cents worth to your "where did we come from" question. Back in the mid-1700's a Klinck family came to New York (settled in Dutchess, Rensselaer and Albany counties, plus others). This family was from Germany!
Branches of this family spelled their name:
Klinck, Klink, Clinck, and last but not least, Clink! The few Clink families that I am interested in and have located in the Albany-Dutchess area from the 179-1814 era have not been tied directly to this Klinck family, but it is always a possibility, and another possibility for your own ancestry as well if you trace it back to that part of the country. I have a small database(about 350 Clink names) in an Excel spreadsheet that I would be glad to export to you if you are interested! Just email me at: jclink@concentric.net. That goes for any other Clink researcher as well. I can't vouch for it's accuracy as it is just information I have gleened from different sources, but you are welcome to what I have if you would like to have it.

Henry Clink

I have Henry, s/o James and Edna Domblazer.
Other shildren are:
Harriet Belle, b. 7/11/1867
Rush, Susquehanna Pa.
Leslie, b. 10/1/1871
Rush, Susquehanna Pa.
Byron, b. 9/27/1878
Rush, Susquehanna Pa.
I have a birthday for Henry, but it clashes with one of the other children. It is 9/25/1871, so I don't know if it is correct or not. James, if born 1838 in Auburn, Susquehanna Pa., is the son of Isaac J. Clink and Roxanna Fowler. I believe, but have not proven positively, this is their son. I have found no other Jameses in that area and time. Isaac J. Clink, born 1808, is the son of William Clink and Margaret Hanson. I have other info about William and Margaret's descendants if this information pays out for you! Hope it helps.

John Clink of PA in 1790 census

Does anyone have any information on the John Clink found in the 1790 Census for Bedford County Pennsylvania? I believe that he is the brother of William ( Margaret J. Hanson)
but I don't have any other info on him. I'm looking for parents and/or siblings or children and wife - any info! Is there someone out there that has done any research on him? I have read a Bradford Co., PA account that states John and William were brothers that came from Steventown, NY originally, and to Laceyville in 1810, moved to Skinners Eddy in 1811, and to Spring Hill in 1814. From there they both moved to Auburn, Susquehanna Co., PA. Is this the same John that was in Bedford Co. PA in the 1790 census? Sure hope someone can help!

This particular couple are on the 1870 Lee County, Illinois census. He is 72 (born about 1799). She is 60 (born about 1810). He says he was born in NJ. She says she was born in PA. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks. Another name linked with my Hulbert is Evitts. my email is minert@cyberport.com

Thanks Barb. It helps a bit. I have info that Betsy Clink and Elias Hulbert were married on Dec 18, 1861.

I have to guess that my Sarah Aldrich Shaw who married Elias Hulbert in 1843 must have gotten a divorce since she didn't pass away until 1865. Also the 1850 Census and succeeding censuses show her living alone or with her children and the last name of SHAW her previous married name. It's almost as if they married for the sake of the child, Angelina, who was supposedly born a year after their marriage almost to the day! Sometimes I think they married to give child a father and that she was really born close to their marriage date and thus a whole year older that her records show. I guess my next research will be for divorce records for Elias Hulbert and Sarah Aldrich SHAW, probably between the years of 1843-1850. Ah such mysteries! But I enjoy the detective work genealogy involves. Or sometimes I compare it to jigsaw puzzles and finding a piece at a time.

Thanks again.
Jo Ann Minert

There seems to be several different origins of Clink's in the US. My ancestors seem to have started in Scotland and then show in New York and Massachusetts. I'm not sure if they ever went to Canada. George Clink and Agnes Calerwood marrie in Neilston, Scotland in or around 1825. They had 5 children, Enphamie,Richard Whittock,George,James and Isabella. I am decended from James. If you have any information on this family I would like it for my files.
Andrew J Clink died in East Hampden Mass 9/13/1885. at the age of 29. Birth place Hammond NY. That would put him and his parents in NY circa 1856. Juliette Benzent and James Clink were probably would have been in NY around 1856. So they may be related.George Heberton in Glasgow has a multitude of Clink histories. He has sent me several. My ancestors would be a James Clink as well as a George and Agnes. I have not found when they came into the states yet but I keep searching. I do have Richard Whitock Clink who died at Gettysburg. He left his wife and daughter in Scotland. He was a brother to George. If you would like a copy of my family tree as far as I have it e-mail me and I'll send it to you. Let me know if Family Tree or Gedcom file.

Linda
