My Clisby line came to Boston in 1670 and were from Norththumberland.

Ezekiel Clisby/Cleasby b 1663 in Eng. Came to Boston 1670

I am descended for Ezekiel Clisby(Cleasby) whose father may have been named Richard. Both of Ezekiel's parents died in an epidemic and his uncle John Clisby went to England and brought Ezekiel and his siblings to Boston, Massachusetts in 1670. The family is well documented in the United States but very little is known about the family in England. Any information would be appreciated.

Richard appears on our family tree but I have no further info going back. He was the father of Sophia Clisby who married Charles Redman Wood, father of Walter Meredith Wood, father of Frank Victor Wood, Father of Muriel Wood, my mother.

Looking for information or descendants of:

Richard Clisby and Margaret Hudson who married at St Peter or Collegiate Wolverhampton, England on 8th January 1816 and are believed to be the parents of Sophia Clisby, born in London abt 1823 and baptised at St Dunstan Stepney on 10 June 1832. On the baptismal record Richard is described as a Soldier.

I was pleasantly surprised to find your e-mail which was waiting for me when I logged on before going to work this morning (24th Aug). I think it is likely we had the same great, great, grandfather (JohnClisby b. 6.5.1859). As you subscribe to this site you no doubt know of Bill Bullen who has put our family tree on the internet as an extension of his family tree. Bill also told me about the book "The Heirs to our lineage" by Rosemary Swayne nee Clisby. Is this the Aunt you refer to? Also from the info Bill has given me I see your birthday is the 15th July and your son's the 16th July; well, mine's the 16th July too - small world isn't it. Having found family in Australia, am looking for family in Seattle/Vancouver. I was born Janet Irene Clisby on 16.7.44, father, Arthur Chipperfield Clisby, 18.6.01 Marylebone, London; died 2.6.54 - address 15 Westmount Avenue, Chatham, Kent, UK. G/mother Fanny Kent Clisby - adress: 15 Henry Street, Tring. G/Gmother: Jane - same address.
Remember Father's cousin visiting 15 Westmount Avenue, in late 1940's who came from Seattle.
Have in the last few days contacted Cousin, also Arthur Clisby, (son of Father's half brother, Ted Clisby) living in Morphett Vale, Southern Australia.
