Thank you so VERY much. For some reason I missed this when you posted it. Yes, I am related and would very much like data om Margaret's children.

It sounds weird, but Margaret's father, Wilmot David Cloos, was my 4th cousin. I'm president of the Campbell Reunion of Nelson, PA and am trying to locate (and update our files on) all descendant's of Wilmot's 3rd great-grandparents, Joseph Campbell (1748 - 1822) and wife Mary Harper (1749 - 1844). All are welcome at our biannual reunions and/or to subscribe to our mail list, CAMPBELL-PA-NELSON@rootsweb.com.

You can presently reach me at capane "at" verizon.net. In a couple of weeks the domain name will change to ptd.net.

Cloos/Closs/Cluss in regards to Hiester/Hüster

PLEASE NOTE: Johann Jost Hüster and Anna Katharina Closs/Cloos/Cluss "Anna Kaetta" are NOT the parents of John, Joseph, or Daniel Hiester (who in fact are the sons of Johann Hüster and Anna Katharina Marburger). In the "900 Years of the Elsoff Parish" published in 1959 by the Wittgenstein Community Association, a 1957 article titled "Die Herkunft der in Amerika beruehmt gewordenen Huesters" (The Origin of the Famous Hiesters) by Wilhelm Hartnack of Laasphe states: "First to Joahann Jost Hüster and Anna Katharina Closs, whom the American researcher [Isaac Hiester] assumes as the parents of the three brothers. This Johann Jost Hüster is the son of Theiss Hüster from Beddelhausen, where he (Johann Jost) was baptized on 5 December 1672. In Elsoff at the "Bruecke-Haus" (bridge house) on 19 May 1697, Johann Jost Hüster of Beddelhausen married Katharina Cloos, born 28 January 1673, the daughter of Bernhard Closs of the "Bruecke-Haus". Johann Jost Hüster died in Elsoff at the "Bruecke" on 6 August 1722, as recorded in the death register. His wife died as Widow Hüster on 19 January 1747."

Yes, indeed I would like to have a photo of Ira H. Cloos...in late 2oo8 I finished my book re early school teachers in which I included a copy of the write up about I.H. Cloos...I found a lot of his background in Tioga co history. Also, while searching through old Grove City College yearbooks for information and photos of my father who attended and graduated from Grove City College I came across a write up and photo of I.H. Cloos which I included in the write up. I found it interesting to learn that his wife, Oleta nee Fox, (married in Brockport in 1909) was born in FOx Twp. Elk County..Apparently while they were both teachers in the Brockport/Horton school system was where their paths first crossed. I will be pleased to send you a copy of the write up from my book in turn I would appreciate having a copy of Ira's photo to put with the write up in my file. R. A. Larson

Much to my surprise when I typed in the surname Cloos at the Tioga county, Pa web site up came a great deal of information about those with the surname. There is a Cloos cemetery and a village or town named Cloos in Chatman township. I have no connection to the Cloos surname but I am searching for a picture of Ira H. Cloos, son of Victor Cloos, once of Tioga county who choose teaching as his career. In September of 1959 the wife of Ira H. Cloos (nee Oleta Fox) passed away in Pittsburgh, Pa. Ira was stil living. It would be wonderful if a picture of Ira H. Cloos, as a young school teacher could be found. Any assistance will be greatly appreciate.

Linda - I changed my email address and didn't know if you ever found anything to connect us. Looking for Reuben Cloos' ancestors. He was born 1743 and died 1826 according to the information I have. His wife is only known as "D" born in 1742 and died in 1826. They are buried in the Old Carpenter Cemetery at Academy Corners near Knoxville, PA. Their son, Newbury born in 1772 married an Esther Short born in 1776 and they raised 11 children on a farm in Tioga Co. Do you have any Cloos/Close ancestors in that area?
CLOOS/CLOSE Family

I am looking for descendants of Reuben
Cloos (1743). Some of the families names
were eventually changed to Close. I am a direct descendant of Reuben, via Newbury
(1772), Reuben (1798), Newbury (1830), Burton (1876) and Harlow (1912). Would like any and all information about this family. Reuben's wife was "D" (1742) and
I would like to know her full name. This family eventually settled in Tioga Co., PA. Can you help me? Thanks, Sally Close Meabon
