hi there,
re. Matthew Clydesdale and Agnes Davidson in East Kilbride,
you may already know that at the time they married he was a ploughman at Long Calderwood Farm in East Kilbride ... and Long Calderwood farm was previously the birthplace of John Hunter, very famous surgeon - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hunter_(surgeon)
... I tried tracking the family down a few years ago (because I thought he was another Matthew Clydesdale), but I lose track of the family after 1861 - I can forward such info as I have to you if you're interested ... ref. the 5 children, the ones I have come across are John, Matthew, Janet, Alexander and Margaret - is that the same as your 5?
