MUSCATINE, Iowa -- James W. Cochran Sr., 56, Muscatine, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center - East Campus, Davenport.
Services are at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Chris Franks, B.J. Moore, Randy Munssen, Rob Pritchard, Tim Hahn and Denny Staley. Burial will be at Conesville Cemetery. After the burial, a time of fellowship will be held at the Moose Lodge.
Mr. Cochran was born on July 31, 1946, in Astoria, Ore., the son of Samuel E. and Thelma L. Estabrook Cochran. He married Barbara Willet on April 15, 1967, in Muscatine.
He worked at the H.J. Heinz Co. in the maintenance department for 34 years before retiring
June 1.
He taught motorcycle safety in Muscatine and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and motorcycles.
He was the president of the Muscatine Bass Club, vice-president of the Pearl City Touring Club as of June 1 and the captain of the King Pins Bowling Team. He enjoyed watching Hawkeye football and basketball, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson.
Survivors include his father, Samuel Cochran of Warrenton, Ore.; his mother, Thelma L. Franks of Letts; his wife, Barbara Cochran of Muscatine; a son, James Cochran Jr. of Muscatine; five brothers, Steven W. Dahl and his wife, Mary, of Muscatine, Michael A. Franks and Kenneth E. Franks, both of Letts, Casey Cochran and Samuel Cochran, both of Warrenton; four sisters, Gailene of Muscatine, Ruth of Lead Hill, Ark., and Cookie and Candy, both of Warrenton; and a grandson, Sean Cochran of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Byrd E. Franks.
