He was born March 6, 1923 in North Grosvenordale, Conn. the son of the late Philip and Amanda Martin Coderre. Larry served with the US Navy during WW II and following the war had worked as an X ray and Lab Tech in hospitals. He was a man of great faith who attended St. Andrew Catholic Church while living in Erie. He truly loved following the lives and activities of his children and grandchildren. Besides his parents and young son Philip Clair Coderre, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dolores Norton Coderre who died in 2008. Larry is survived by a son Joseph Coderre and his wife Patricia of Mt. Holly, N.C. and by four daughters; Joyce Chapman and her husband Gerry of Peoria, Ariz.; Ginger Mang â€"Finnecy and her husband Bob of Greenfield, Wis.; Janine Reagan of Gulf Port, Fla. and Pauline Tucker and her husband Warren of Wairarapa, New Zealand. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass Saturday June 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will be private. I live in St Pete, name is Dylan Coderre Son of Steven Coderre who was born in Putnam, CT, however his parents were Leon and Maureen Coderre (my grandparents) and they both were born in Spencer Mass, and to my knowledge the majority of our Family besides them lives there still to this day. They're along with Coderre, some of them are now under the last name Flannery.

I am a Coderre. Married now so a Dobson. But my mother is one of ten children. She and her father are from Ontario (right beside Quebec) but some of his brothers are in Quebec and had their families there.
My grandfather was a genologist and we have traced back our family way back into the 1600s...

Hi,
I'm looking for any information about my paternal grandfather Joseph Napolean Coderre. He was from Quebec, from I believe Magog, and was born in the early 1900s or late 1880-1890s. He had at least 2 brothers....that I THINK were named Gaston and Alberto. He was married to a Virginia Wadge in the 1920s and had one son (my father) in 1931, with her. Any info or direction to finding info would be appreciated :)

I have her parents as Francois Chausse & Angele Etu (sometimes Hetu). I have seen the image of the marriage in the Drouin collection on Ancestry, but am unable to decipher parents for Antoine.

According to Michael Malouin (Deyell): Francois Diel (Julienne Coderre) was brother to Jean-Baptiste Diel (Angelique Lariviere). Francois Diel who married Rose Vaillant is Francois Diel's (Julienne) son.

Michael claims that Jean-Baptiste (Angelique) and Francois (Julienne)'s father was John Jefferson Doyle from Cork, Ireland. JJ Doyle was a captain in the army but not sure which side. They first lived in Quebec City.

Which 'John Diell' do you have birth and baptism records of?

Not sure if we are related or not but your history is simular to mine. My father and uncle were born in MA at about the same time your family was. My dad, Theodore Colvis Coderre, was born in 1906 in North Adams MA. His older bother Hormer Coderre was born in Adams MA. They both moved back to the Montreal area with my grandfather who bought a farm in the area. Would be fun to find out there is a link. Yes, my father grew up in the Holyoke, MA area. One of 5 who later settled in Chicopee, and West Springfield.Ma. Of 16 cousins, most have remained in Western MA-W. Spfld, Granby, Ludlow, Hadley, Ware etc. I don't recognise any of the names you posted, we don't know much about my paternal grandfather. I do know that his family came here from Granby and Sorel in Quebec, Canada.

That would be a shame if the Goderre's had to flee the French Revolution! Incidentally, I just returned from Europe and looked up Goderre in one of those tourist trap Names shops. No hit on their database for Goderre. I should have thought to try other spellings!

I have Coderres in my line, and have traced them back to St. Cesaire, Rouville, County Quebec, Canada. Now there is one other location I found them in the Diocese of St. Hyacinthe. You can check the LDS Morman church records and find the film numbers for that area, and you will locate quite a few Coderres. Good Luck.. and please keep us posted on your progress.
