I started doing research on my husbands family and I'm stuck between the 5th and 6th generation. My biggest problem is sometime between those two generations someone changed the name from Coffel to Coffell. My husbands great great grandfather was named William T. Coffel. He was born sometime in 1849 in Ohio. He married Mary E. (unsure of her last name because I have two). They had two sons and a daughter that I'm sure of, but I also have another son and two daughters that I can't find information on. One son was Jess Coffel. He was born in Ohio in 1896. He married a Merlinda Wilson and they had two sons and four daughters. From this point on all of Jess' children seem to be using Coffell while all of Williams' children used Coffel. All the named individuals passed away and are buried in Cadillac, Michigan. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.
